3.0 / 5.02 ReviewsCheap. Broke during first aging cycle. On the positive side, it fit the jug and held the air lock. After that, nothing positive to say about it. It cracked right above the thread line. Crack is horizontal and extends almost half way around, rendering it worthless. Bought two and they both did the same thing. Typically, that happens from over tightening, but I don't think I over tightened them and the crack appeared sometime months into the aging/clarifying process. Glad I had also purchased a drilled rubber stopper at the same time.Added Jul 6, 2017July 6, 2017Purchased
1 year agoEasy cap for beginner!Just started my first batch of dandelion wine a week ago. A few days in, I received a surprise gift of Midwest's beginner fruit wine making kit and add on. Yesterday, I transferred the must from the fermenting pail to the gallon jug, and was totally relieved by how easy it was to use this plastic screw on lid to attach the 3 piece airlock. As I have researched more equipment I learned about the rubber bung and am so happy I did not have to experiment with that for my wine making forays. The airlock is bubbling away merrily and I know that when it is time to transfer it again, no disasters will occur in removing this cap and lid. I am sure that me and the bung lid removal would not go well and may in fact cause me to reap destruction. Thanks Midwest, I will be making my own orders soon and will get some more of these nifty caps!May 12, 2014

Browse 2 questions Browse 2 questions and 2 answersIs that 5/16 ID or OD? thank youBEST ANSWER: The hole on this cap is for an airlock, but you can stuff a small-diameter tube into it. It's better to put a 3-piece airlock in it, and attach a piece of 3/8" tubing to the center stem of the dis-assembled airlock to create a blow-off assembly, if desired. -Mike W, Midwest SuppliesWhat size tubing fits inside the hole on this cap? I need 3 more blow off tubes for 3 more 1 gallon bottles, thanks.BEST ANSWER: Hello,
You will want 5/16" tubing for a blow off tube.
