Browse 2 questions Browse 2 questions and 3 answersDoes this yeast work good with fruit based wines. And after fermentation does it still produce high proof alchol when cooked into moonshineBEST ANSWER: Hello Alicia,
Thank you for choosing Midwest Supplies! If you are looking to make good tasting wine, I wouldn't use this yeast, I would go with something like Lalvin EC-1118 http://www.midwestsupplies.com/lalvin-ec-1118-champagne.html The Alcotec yeast when used for wine probably won't make for a very tasty flavor profile. If you are looking to cook shine, or brandy if it is being distilled from wine in this case, either the EC-1118 or the Alcotec will ferment the wine fairly dry so that there is plenty of alcohol present in solution making it available for distillation. Be sure to read up on distilling so that you don't produce methanol and go blind from drinking it. I hope that this helps! If I wanted to do a 65 gallon batch how many of these would i need?BEST ANSWER: Each pack makes 6 gallons so you would need 11 total.
