2 months agoGreat for your own exiperimental brewsJust bottled some cherry wheat beer using a 32 oz. bottle of Cherry Bay Orchards tart concentrate along with 1lb. of Brun Foncé Soft Belgian Candi Sugar. Tasted great right after fermentation was completed and before bottling and capping with a sugar cube. Should be really good after a couple of weeks. Hint: I use a 2.5 gallon Slimline Container that I fill with filtered refrigerator water that I place in our freezer right when my boil of the wort starts. When I remove the 2.5 gallons of wort after the boil and cool it down to 100 degrees in our sink I take the freezer container out and drain about 1.5 gallons of the chilled water into my fermenter and then add the wort. I top off the fermenter with the rest of the chilled water and this brings down the temp of the combination to 68 to 72 degrees. I can then immediately pitch the yeast.September 5, 2018Purchased

3 months agoFor the budget, not the qualityRidiculously easy extract kit to brew. Kit only contains malted and hops. No grains at all. Made for a clean and clear brew, but missing that flare and taste of the grains. Recommend this kit only if you're in a budget crisis and you wanna brew. Otherwise, stick with regular kids and skip the Beer, Simply beer kits. Won't buy this kit again.July 10, 2018Purchased

Browse 11 questions Browse 11 questions and 53 answersAre 12 bottles enough for a single kit or should I get more?BEST ANSWER: These kits make 5 gal of beer
That's 640 oz total
You can fill
10 of 64oz growlers
53 of 12oz standard beer bottles
40 of 16oz flip top grolsh type beer bottles
25 of 750cc wine bottles
29 of 22oz beer bottles
Usually it's a little less than 5gal as you always leave a bit of yeast sediment from the fermenter or secondary.
I personally keg half my batch in a small 2.5 or 3 gal stainless keg that fits in my small kegerator and bottle the other half in 16oz flip top bottles that are easy to clean and reuse and are nice to share with friends. Pulling a fresh homebrew beer from a keg after a hard day at work with perfect temp and head is a joy that few hobbies can equal.how long does the fermation take, some kits call for 2 weeks some longer before bottling?BEST ANSWER: Extract kits take about 2 weeks, but don't trust time. Watch your bubbler/trap for activity. If you don't see activity for a few minutes then it's probably done. Also, you can take specific gravity reading a few days apart to see any change. Of the first reading is anywhere close to 1.010 then it's ready to bottle. Hope this helps.
SnosrapI brew n 5 gal units, is that what I'm buying?BEST ANSWER: Yes, it's in the description as well. I just made it with an extra 1lb of honey and 2 oz citra dry hopped. What should be the general color or SRM for this beer? During secondary fermentation transfer, I couldn't help but notice the color was a bit more amber than what I've seen depicted in the photos.BEST ANSWER: I would say that is what I also noticed. I don't have a measurement for you, all I know is that when boiling, I added a handful of whole cascade hops to the wort and the end result with this kit was wonderful!what malt extract is used in this kit?BEST ANSWER: The kit doesn't come with any grains. the malt extract that comes with it includes everything. I am sorry, but I don't remember the name on the bottle. If I get a chance, I will look to see if there's a copy of the paper at home. Otherwise, if you click on the details and instructions tab, it might say specifically what was in the kit...What is the use-by date on the package? How long will it last in storage before I brew it? Thanks!Beer. Simply Beer - American WheatBEST ANSWER: I typically buy these kits 3 or 4 at a time and when I get the package, first thing I do is put the yeast packs in the fridge and the hops in the freezer. Both the yeast and the hops are said to be good for up to two years if unopened. I keep the boxes in the basement on the concrete floor, it is my understanding that as long as you keep the extract in a temp controlled area (60-70F) they should be fine for up to a year, some web sites even say 2 years. Happy Hopping! What hops and/or flavor can I add to make this a special, tasty brew?BEST ANSWER: I added 1lb fresh strawberries at flame out...then another lb when transferring to secondary. It wasn't overpowering. Subtle strawberry. Good kit for $20 and 2 lbs straws.Hi, new to Brewing. Where can I find expected final gravity and abv for this beer? Can't find it anywhere in the package.BEST ANSWER: For the kit brewed, I added 3 pounds of Amber DME and got 1.078 OG, 1.026 FG (6.7% ABV). Still had good wheat flavor, not heavy or overpowering and not "hot" (alcohol). I know that's not a direct answer to your question, but, with the amount of added extract, it correlates fairly well with the answer from Greggory G.Does this include the yeast?BEST ANSWER: Yes, theses kits include the yeast as well.is that a 5 gal kitBEST ANSWER: Yes, this is a 5 gallon kitWhat quantity does the kit make? Presumably 5 gallons?BEST ANSWER: Yes, these are 5 gallon kits
