4.4 / 5.017 ReviewsHoney Wheat home brewsJust bottled this today and am really happy with it. I increased it to a six gallon batch and added a 1/2# of honey toward the end of the boil. Today, I split it in half, added 3 oz. of priming sugar to each half. I added 4 oz. of blueberry extract to one three gallon batch and 4oz. of Raspberry extract to the other. The flavor or each was very good, not overpowering. My wife likes fruit beer and I think she'll like these brews. These simply beer kits are great for experimenting with.July 21, 2016Came out good. Very light, mellow, easy to drink. Not much depth of flavor.February 16, 2017Purchased
11 months agoGreat base kitI added a little red wheat malt, 0.5 oz coriander and some bitter orange peel. Added Citra hops to the last 15 minutes of the boil. Bottled after 1 month. My batch ended up right at 4%, very bitter at first, but has since mellowed out about 3 weeks in the bottle making a slightly exotic-tasting hoppy wheat ale. This is a great kit to tweak with if you are still unsure about making your own recipes. Keep making these great kits Midwest!August 18, 2016Great first beer kitGreat value and easy to brew for beginners. Added four packs of lemonade drink mix at bottling. First bottle was a bit too hoppy for my tastes. But after a week in the bottle and it calmed down and was great. Since these kits are easy and cheap they are perfect for experimenting. Next time I'll use cherry for a cherry wheat.August 26, 2016Pretty good for the priceNote I am not a wheat beer drinker but this is pretty good for the price, comparable to many more expensive wheats I have had.January 6, 2017Purchased
1 year agoAmazing for the priceI am enjoying every bottle. I would compare it to the best commercial wheat beers. I know I will be buying this more often. I am anxious to try the other Beer Simply Beer kits.July 23, 2016Great value & qualityGreat base for experimenting--brewed with honey and lavender, and going to try maple next. Will buy more!September 16, 2016MediocreOkay beer but nothing outstanding or noteworthy about it.November 25, 2016Purchased
1 year agoSatisfactory base beerOk. Good to experiment with flavor additions but somewhat lacking as a base beer. Love the MS simply beers but this is my least liked.March 19, 2017Purchased

- Customer Q&A
Browse 9 questions Browse 9 questions and 41 answersAre 12 bottles enough for a single kit or should I get more?BEST ANSWER: These kits make 5 gal of beer
That's 640 oz total
You can fill
10 of 64oz growlers
53 of 12oz standard beer bottles
40 of 16oz flip top grolsh type beer bottles
25 of 750cc wine bottles
29 of 22oz beer bottles
Usually it's a little less than 5gal as you always leave a bit of yeast sediment from the fermenter or secondary.
I personally keg half my batch in a small 2.5 or 3 gal stainless keg that fits in my small kegerator and bottle the other half in 16oz flip top bottles that are easy to clean and reuse and are nice to share with friends. Pulling a fresh homebrew beer from a keg after a hard day at work with perfect temp and head is a joy that few hobbies can equal.how long does the fermation take, some kits call for 2 weeks some longer before bottling?BEST ANSWER: Extract kits take about 2 weeks, but don't trust time. Watch your bubbler/trap for activity. If you don't see activity for a few minutes then it's probably done. Also, you can take specific gravity reading a few days apart to see any change. Of the first reading is anywhere close to 1.010 then it's ready to bottle. Hope this helps.
SnosrapWhat should be the general color or SRM for this beer? During secondary fermentation transfer, I couldn't help but notice the color was a bit more amber than what I've seen depicted in the photos.BEST ANSWER: I would say that is what I also noticed. I don't have a measurement for you, all I know is that when boiling, I added a handful of whole cascade hops to the wort and the end result with this kit was wonderful! What is the use-by date on the package? How long will it last in storage before I brew it? Thanks!Beer. Simply Beer - American WheatBEST ANSWER: I don't remember a "use by" date except on the yeast packet. MS could probably answer better than a customer. What hops and/or flavor can I add to make this a special, tasty brew?BEST ANSWER: I added 1lb fresh strawberries at flame out...then another lb when transferring to secondary. It wasn't overpowering. Subtle strawberry. Good kit for $20 and 2 lbs straws.Hi, new to Brewing. Where can I find expected final gravity and abv for this beer? Can't find it anywhere in the package.BEST ANSWER: We expect a 75% apparent attenuation rate for our kits (depending on the yeast). For this kit in particular, that means the expected FG is 1.011 and the expected ABV is 4.20%. In the end though it is all about how it tastes!Does this include the yeast?BEST ANSWER: Yes, theses kits include the yeast as well.is that a 5 gal kitBEST ANSWER: Yes, this is a 5 gallon kitWhat quantity does the kit make? Presumably 5 gallons?BEST ANSWER: Yes, these are 5 gallon kits
