1 month agoI like things simple. Beer simply beer gives me that. I've always had good luck with every kit I've ordered. Sometimes I'll add vanilla to the cream ale or wood chunks to the stout and I always impress my friends with it's taste. Beer simply beer is simply great.November 9, 2018Purchased

3 months agoGetting amazing with ageDon't get me wrong, this beer was drinkable after 5 weeks but it’s getting down right delicious after a couple months. I will note that I added a little cascade to bump the IBUs. Really wish I would have saved more! Starting to think I need to order another kit. Yummmmm.May 26, 2018Purchased
11 months agoGreat starter brew kit for some who has not brewed in 20 years. It is a lite beer with flavor and low bitterness.May 24, 2018Purchased
9 months agoDelicious AleI have brewed this a couple times now. It's a nice smooth beer with just a hint of hops. My last batch I mixed in a pound of lactose sugar to make it a bit thicker and add a littleof sweetness. It turned out fantastic.April 25, 2018Purchased
8 months agoSmooth Nut Brown AleExcellent beer and well worth the price. I did add some additional ingredients and it turned out really good. The grain I added, to the boil, was 1 lb of Briess Organic Carapils Malt grain. Also added 1 lb of Brown Sugar to the boil and 1 oz Fuggles Hops. I have shared this beer with others and have gotten many compliments.March 15, 2018Purchased
10 months agoBad yeast? The beer didnâ??t ferment. I followed the instructions to the letter, sanitized 2x (Iâ??ve brewed many times before without failure. The yeast packet was dated 2014, and I think it was the problem. I will not buy from Midwest again.January 2, 2018Purchased
1 year ago1st beer attempt, great choiceTasted the beer after two weeks of bottling, tastes very good and well carbonated. Instructions were great. I skipped the 2 wk racking and left in brew bucket. The lid would not go on so I covered fermenter with plastic wrap and weighted lid (worked fine). I was looking for a beer like Lost Coast Brewery's "Downtown Brown" and this is a good match. I used 32 oz plastic bottles w/screw on lids. Worked well as I did not put in enough priming sugar (direct into bottle as I didn't want to move anything) so opened next day and added more. The plastic was un-squeezable as it carbonated so I knew it was working. After all that, good beer!
I will definitely buy this kit again.November 24, 2017Purchased

We are happy with the response so far to the kits we have offered in this line, and we may introduce more beer styles later. We're glad you're interested! -Mike W, Midwest SuppliesWhat is the use-by date on the package? How long will it last in storage before I brew it? Thanks!Beer. Simply Beer - Brown AleBEST ANSWER: I typically buy these kits 3 or 4 at a time and when I get the package, first thing I do is put the yeast packs in the fridge and the hops in the freezer. Both the yeast and the hops are said to be good for up to two years if unopened. I keep the boxes in the basement on the concrete floor, it is my understanding that as long as you keep the extract in a temp controlled area (60-70F) they should be fine for up to a year, some web sites even say 2 years. Happy Hopping! Is the resulting beer anything at all like a Dundee's Nut Brown Ale? I am a novice when it comes to brown ales but found that I like Dundee's. Thank you.BEST ANSWER: Never had Dundee's. It's not really a nut ale. I do think this brown ale is a good base recipe, and improves greatly with different steeping grains or hops. Maybe if you can find out what grains and hops they use you can try tweaking your brew.Has anyone tried added a bit of honey when brewing this brown ale? Good results?BEST ANSWER: I added 2 oz honey as a conditioning sugar. I liked the results. I tried my friends batch without the honey. Made it slightly sweeter and we'll...a touch of honey flavor. Very very slight. What is the final gravity for this beer?BEST ANSWER: The kit instructions only had OG of 1.048. I brewed at OG of 1.036 and a FG of 1.008. I didn't deviate from anything either. What is the abv of this beer?BEST ANSWER: The ABV of this beer is approximately 5.0%.How long after I receive this do I have before I need to brew it. Might want to buy multiple styles.BEST ANSWER: The shelf life of the kits would be 3-4 months with no problem; after that the specialty grains in the kits would start to be a bit stale. The other components would be fine for longer than that, though. - Mike W, Midwest Suppliesare these simply beers extract kits or all grainBEST ANSWER: All the "Simply Beer" kits are extract kits, simplified as much as possible! - Mike W, Midwest Supplies
