4.3 / 5.048 ReviewsMake It Drink It Most Important Enjoy What You MadeThis is so much better than the name brands on the shelves of most stores. Most importantly I made it, if it turned into a flop, I made it and I’m to blame, but I’ve made several of these kits and never had a flop. Thanks MidwestMarch 31, 2019Purchased

6 months agoReally nice brown. This has great malt flavor, and the aroma from the specialty grains really comes through. I’ve tried most of the simply beer kits, and this is my favorite, by far.December 26, 2018Purchased
over 2 years agoFantastic value and beerI love this kit. Absolutely awesome value for a kit that yields fantastic results. My friend did this kit a few months before I did and recommended conditioning a little longer than 2 weeks for better flavor.
I added about 2 ounces of honey to the conditioning sugars to give it a slightly different flavor than what my friend did. Loved the results. Highly recommend it.December 8, 2018Purchased
9 months agoGreat base kit!I used this kit twice now and each time it has exceeded expectations.
The first time I brewed it I did it as is with no extra additions with a full boil and it turned out spectacular, it was smooth with a perfect brown color bottling day made me want to drink it that day with the aroma of the beer.
The second time I wanted to kick the flavor up a notch and start experimenting with an extra addition. I live in an area that is heavy populated with hobby maple farmers so I searched my fridge and found my two pounds of pure straight from the tree maple syrup. I added the full two pounds into the boil and WOW it turned out absolutely amazing! The maple fermented down boosting my ABV to about 9% and added a bold maple aftertaste. This was my surprise thanksgiving beer for my family and within 4 days all 50 bottles were gone or spoken for to take home.
I will always have one of these kits on hand.December 8, 2018

Browse 8 questions Browse 8 questions and 22 answersWhat is the use-by date on the package? How long will it last in storage before I brew it? Thanks!Beer. Simply Beer - Brown Ale Recipe KitBEST ANSWER: I typically buy these kits 3 or 4 at a time and when I get the package, first thing I do is put the yeast packs in the fridge and the hops in the freezer. Both the yeast and the hops are said to be good for up to two years if unopened. I keep the boxes in the basement on the concrete floor, it is my understanding that as long as you keep the extract in a temp controlled area (60-70F) they should be fine for up to a year, some web sites even say 2 years. Happy Hopping!Has anyone tried added a bit of honey when brewing this brown ale? Good results?BEST ANSWER: I added 2 oz honey as a conditioning sugar. I liked the results. I tried my friends batch without the honey. Made it slightly sweeter and we'll...a touch of honey flavor. Very very slight. What is the final gravity for this beer?BEST ANSWER: The kit instructions only had OG of 1.048. I brewed at OG of 1.036 and a FG of 1.008. I didn't deviate from anything either. Is the resulting beer anything at all like a Dundee's Nut Brown Ale? I am a novice when it comes to brown ales but found that I like Dundee's. Thank you.BEST ANSWER: Never had Dundee's. It's not really a nut ale. I do think this brown ale is a good base recipe, and improves greatly with different steeping grains or hops. Maybe if you can find out what grains and hops they use you can try tweaking your brew. Are you considering other styles to add to the series?BEST ANSWER: Maybe so! We are happy with the response so far to the kits we have offered in this line, and we may introduce more beer styles later. We're glad you're interested! -Mike W, Midwest SuppliesWhat is the abv of this beer?BEST ANSWER: The ABV of this beer is approximately 5.0%.How long after I receive this do I have before I need to brew it. Might want to buy multiple styles.BEST ANSWER: The shelf life of the kits would be 3-4 months with no problem; after that the specialty grains in the kits would start to be a bit stale. The other components would be fine for longer than that, though. - Mike W, Midwest Suppliesare these simply beers extract kits or all grainBEST ANSWER: All the "Simply Beer" kits are extract kits, simplified as much as possible! - Mike W, Midwest Supplies
