DetailsDating back to monastic breweries in the middle ages, Dubbels are still produced at abbeys and monasteries in Belgium. This kit yields an authentic Trappist-style ale with a russet color, dense off-white head, and a host of flavors and aromas - spices, flowers, dried fruit, plums, raisins, rum, and toffee - arising from the interaction of grains, sugar, and yeast. A medium-full bodied, complex beer that pairs with everything from cheese to stew to dessert.

5.0 / 5.03 ReviewsTasty beerThis was my first Belgian ale. I was 3 weeks in the primary and then bottle. I never use a secondary any longer with my ales. The beer tasted a little raw going into the bottle. After about 3 weeks in the bottle it was very smooth and yummy. One of my favorite beers.July 23, 2019Purchased

Browse 1 question Browse 1 question and 3 answersWhat yeast should I use to get the most authentic flavor for a Belgian Dubbel?BEST ANSWER: Cloning a yeast strain from chimay would give the most authentic flavor but for a more simple version I have brewed this kit 4 times and I always upgrade to the liquid yeast recommended by Midwest. I think it’s the abbey ale yeast. It always turns out great and the flavor is consistent each time. My favorite style. I double the Belgian candy sugar to 2 lbs to up the ABV.
