1 month agovery tastyI made a black currant melomel from this base, with raspberry blossom honey and a few dried currants added in the secondary. Also gave it a little dark roast American oak. Two years later, that mead still tastes like a black currant explosion. Love it!February 3, 2012Great TasteI used two of those cans to make a 6 Gallon Batch of wine. Did not add any sweetener and tried it to taste after being bottled for 4 month._x000D_For my taste it was a bit on the dry side, but most likely would mellow if aged longer._x000D_However, my wife was extremely pleased and she thought it was a great tasting expensive RED wine. She loves this wine and I have serious doubts that the remaining 27 bottles have much of a chance to age for very long. I hid four bottles, just to see what this wine tasts like after about a year.August 13, 2012Excellent sub for fresh currants.Made 3 gals. last year and it's almost gone. Just about to start another. Makes a really great wine with the 3 gal.recipe. I recommend it to anyone who likes fruit wines.October 19, 2012Good Currant flavorI used two cans and got a great taste of Currants. I agree about not adding sweetener, this is all you need, it will be dry and excellent._x000D_Highly recommended for fruit wines.December 6, 2012Nice tasteFor a 6 gallon batch I used 2 cans, so it would not be too thin. I didn't add sugar, just the concentrate. I aged it 6 months and the taste mellowed a bit, but it still has a nice black current flavor.January 12, 2013Makes Great WineI bought this because my wife found a loca winery that made this and she loved it. For Christmas, her sister bought a case of it but it was very weak compared to the year before. The winery said it was because it is a vintage wine and changes from year to year. I call bs. It was just watered down. _x000D_I decided to make my own and gave out bottles for Christmas. Christmas day 5 people finnished off 4 bottles. It turned out great and just what my wife expected. Hopefully it will have a little time to age before it is all gone. Ready to make more.January 18, 2013Fantastic as alwaysI am a big fan of Midwest, and as always, you just deliver in spades!!!December 21, 2015First timeLove Black Current Wine Try this base withe a bit of oak and little sugar Still fermenting let you know when its readyFebruary 12, 2013Very nice currant flavorI used two cans to make 6 gallons.
