Blichmann HellFire™ Floor Burner

Very Good But

I live in a rather cold climate. I try to brew on days that are above freezing. I do not boil inside. My last brew took along time to get the boil going. I wanted to shorten that time so I purchased the Bilchmann HellFire based solely on its ads. My next brew date I used it for the first time. It did cut the time to boil significantly. So in that regard I am pleased. While I was brewing I tried to get the burner to the HellFire state. Supposedly the flames are to lift off the burner surface and make a noticeably louder noise. With the tank valve wide open, the regulator wide open, and the air tube wide open I could not get the flames to lift off the burner. Maybe I could not get the results I was expecting because the tank wasn't full or maybe the ambient temperature was too cold or possibly the regulator they sent wasn't working correctly. It's not a big deal to me. I just wanted to see what the max would look and sound like. I took of a star for that.
With that being said I still like the results I got. The large burner diameter covers most of the 10 gal. brew kettle. With the many orifices the heat was even around the bottom of the kettle. The kettle bottom was the cleanest ever. All and all I'm pleased.

Work horse

This is the best burner I have used to date. I have been home brewing for over 20 years now and this is the easiest to control and best heat dispersion. Spend the extra money and get this work horse.

Never wait for boils again!

I got this bad boy hooked up to my custom brew table and a 30psi propane regulator on a standard grill-sized tank. This thing is a beast! I usually do 10 gal batches, but I have three 45 gal concord kettles to accommodate a full 1 BBL batch. Regardless of batch size, this thing has enough punch to QUICKLY bring my sweet wort to a boil. With a 10 gal batch, temps go from around 160 to 212 in under 10 minutes (with the gas line turned waaaay down low to avoid melting my silicon O rings.

A 10 inch banjo burner with do exactly what you want, but this Blichman floor model is a sharp looking, sturdy brute for a great price. Get it!
