5.0 / 5.01 ReviewAlways perfectI've been using this for over 2 years now to brew hard cider and have never had a problem. The only thing you'll have to do is get some gasket material and cut yourself a gasket for the lid (it's not airtight). The way it's designed, you actually don't even need the gasket or an airlock--this little red plastic plug comes with it that fits inside the airlock hole and it'll raise up when the pressure gets too much, let the excess CO2 out, and then fall back down but I don't trust it to keep out the bugs so I use the gasket and airlock. I get exactly 15 - 740ML plastic bottles out of one batch and I fill it almost to the top. Little trick--put the front legs on 4 quarters and you'll be able to get another 8 oz. of apple juice in there leaving just enough airspace for the bung on the airlock not to come in contact with the brew.
I use slightly less than 3 gallons plus 2# of sugar dissolved in apple juice. At bottling time, I add 1 can of apple juice concentrate, and give it a stir. The carbonation level and clarity of the cider is perfect after 2 weeks of aging.
It looks good enough to keep it on the kitchen counter and going all the time. Once you get a system going, you'll be bottling every 2-3 weeks and never run out.May 9, 2018

We designed our 2 gallon kits to work with this fermenter. You do not want to use 3 gallon kits in a three gallon fermenter, as that could create a mess.
