Nice flavor and body to it.September 13, 2013Used for yeast startersI had a giant bag of light DME, but finally ran out so I tried this for my starter. It works great and saves me a couple of days because I've gotten the same results with two steps versus the three steps I was doing before.July 1, 2013Great for StarterI use this for almost all my yeast starters. Just use 4 cups of water to 1 cup of DME (4:1 ratio). Boil for ten minutes, cool, pitch liquid yeast on stir plate for 24-48 hours. Can't beat it! Improved ALL my beers. No more yeast stressing!March 31, 2013

Browse 1 question Browse 1 question and 4 answersIs this a good option in place of LME Rye?BEST ANSWER: This is usually for darker color and barley malt taste. Just like wheat, malt will have a slightly different taste. If your recipe calls for rye use that, but if you are experimenting, give it a try, you may be pleased. darker beers are usually heavier than lighter beers. it is also a matter of taste preference.
