Dark Star-2.0 Work Great

I bought this to speed up my 5Gal All Grain Brew day and it works great. I got the my first Dark Star as a gift and have used it for years. 25+ batches with no issues. I wasn't looking for an improvement, just another great burner. The 2.0 has a different jet. It heats faster and more evenly. 5+ batches with 2-burners and I love this one too! Highly recommended and would definitely buy again!

A Must Have

Was a piece of cake to set up although I am very familiar with propane/gas burner mechanics and function through camping and such. That said, I do think a little more time should be spent in the writing of the directions on the art of adjusting the flame- (air mix inlet with the two set screws). I can see how people NOT familiar would be at a disadvantage. For me it was an extremely easy setup, fired it up for 10 minutes to burn off the coatings to remove the smell- (no big deal people) and boiled my first batch for an hour and a half. Worked perfectly! Boiling wort INDOORS would not have set well with the spouse and I was very surprised by comments from female friends on social media who congratulated me for being considerate enough to boil outdoors UNLIKE their spouses had done in the past. Technically, it was very simple to adjust flame for the correct boil- took some practice (has anything new the first time will require). Very sturdy, held my 7.5 gallon pot just fine with no wobble. Highly recommend.

Dark Star is quite bright!

I bought this for brewing outside and have not been disappointed one bit. This thing really kicks out the BTUs! Get's your wort boiling in no time. Very solid stand, low to the ground that will never tip over. Doesn't have much of a wind screen but that is not an issue for me. This is exactly what I wanted and am very happy with my purchase. Stay healthy! Brew outside with your friends!

Does the job

I’m a newbie to brewing — two 5 gallon batches under my belt. This burner is perfect for my needs. I have a GasOne 8 gallon brew pot that is firmly supported by the burner. The wind screen performs well in the moderate winds that I’ve experienced. There is a hole in the side of the wind screen to insert a lighter, which is handy. I find that the control is fine enough to keep a nice low rolling boil of the wort. The only complaint is that the burner support is pretty cheap and tends to wobble back and forth with the tension on the hose connecting the tank to the burner. That hasn’t been a problem so far, but time will tell.
