Still new at homebrewing and was using a 1 gal kit. Added two 6.5 gal big mouth bubblers and am now in my second batch. they work great and I couldn't be happier. Looking forward to growing my skill set with these awesome fermenters.
I purchased several different fermentors over time to include No. Brewer SS 7 gal, buckets etc. and Big Mouth Bubbler is the best for the following reasons:
1: see the fermentation at work
2: super easy to clean
3: no valve leak issues like on SS type Fermentors.
The only issue is the strap that be purchased. It’s complicated and the design isn’t really a good one.
My previous big mouth bubbler was great, so I bought another one when the plastic around the spigot cracked. They redesigned some features. The universal lid will not stay tight during fermentation of a low alcohol content beer, I haven’t tried a high one yet but hopefully a blowoff tube will be better than an airlock. The harness is not only difficult to figure out and put on but also a joke trying to carry when full. I prefer the older model with the twist on lid much better.
Using the 6.5 gal big mouth as a secondary fermenter for a 5 gal batch. I like that the spigot is a little more raised off the floor than my primary, hoping to pull less sludge when bottling from the spigot. Hate siphoning when bottling, because I seem to need an extra set of hands and eyes when approaching the bottom of a bucket. This setup seems like it would work great for secondary and/or primary. Quality is good. I'd bet I could probably strap-in and replel down a mountain with that harness that comes with it. Only issue... Wish I would have gotten the glass bubbler.
Good just as I expected.
