Why Brew Your Own Kombucha?
- Easy - Ready in under an hour
- Saves $$$ - No need to drop $5 for one bottle at the store
- Creative - Concoct your own flavors by adding fruit, spices, etc.
Includes a Live SCOBY!
Unlike other starter kits, the Northern Brewer kit includes the SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast), which ferments a sweet tea mixture to produce the drink’s classically refreshing, yet tart flavor. When properly cared for, the SCOBY will last (and grow) for many batches to come. This 1 Gallon Batch of Kombucha will yield approximately:
- 8-10 of the 12 ounce bottles
- 7-8 of the 16 oz Bottles or 16 oz EZ Cap Bottles
- 5 of the 22 oz "Bomber"- style bottles

Kombucha Starter Kit with SCOBY - 1 Gallon
Great kit, except the fermenter that was provided does NOT have the faucet on it! This makes transfer to your bottles difficult (with a siphon) because it disrupts the SCOBY. If I had the right fermenter with the faucet it would be a 5! Disappointed...
The first time making Kombucha, and this kit was easy. My 3rd batch turned out the best so far.
The instructions are simple.
I would suggest revamping the instructions for the 1 gallon kit without the spout - it was the only part that was confusing.
One tip before you do the 2nd fermentation (to store your kombucha) stir before - that helps activate the carbonation.
The black tea provided is perfect for my taste. Shipping was fast too!
It said it would have a spout on the big glass jar , no spout .
The first batched turned out ok , really wasn’t sure how to use or read the ph test strips . I read what it said to do but really couldn’t tell what the ph was , so not sure if I had it right . Made the second batch ( bought a ph tester) did all the steps again but this time had mold on scoby;
I need a glass jar with a spout and think I need a new scoby
This was a Christmas gift to my daughter. She said the lid was broken after she opened it, so she wanted to contact customer service. I gave her the information to text the company, so I don't know where we are right now. I don't think she had a chance to try it since the lid was cracked.
