DetailsThis water based coloring is naturally derived from the Annatto tree and will impart an appetizing yellow color to your cheese and ice cream. Most cheeses will yellow slightly in the aging process, but if you want a strong yellow color this is for you. Please see the "more information" page for amounts to add.
Directions: Always add before adding rennet. Dilute color with soft or distilled water. Always keep color out of contact with salts.
Contains: Water, Annatto, Potassium Hydroxide, Castor Oil
Storage: Store tightly closed in a cool, dark, dry place. Will last indefinitely.

Could regular food coloring such as you would use in cake frost be used instead? I'm sure that the color made for cheese would work better, but it is just another thing I have to order and wait for.BEST ANSWER: Food coloring will not work, it will be uneven in color of the cheese it will also impart an off flavor to the cheese. Instead of waiting for the annatto cheese coloring make the cheese without itThe annatto cheese coloring is just that a coloring. It does not affect the cheese in any other way accept the color. Cheese is cheese regardless of the natural color or added annatto cheese coloring.
