4.9 / 5.035 ReviewsGreat Dunkel Wheat RecipeGreat dunkel wheat, just like they brew in Germany. I recent trip to Munich and the beer halls created my interest in dark wheat beer. This beer has a dark malty flavor and is definitely not for the Coors Light drinkers.May 4, 2015Awesome kitReally solid brew, tweaked it a little, added some dark crystal malts as well as carafe three to give it so,e deeper flavor and more depth...really turned out incredible, highly reccomendAugust 3, 2015January 14, 2016Great Wheat Kit!Tried one keg. Was very curious as I like strong banana esters in my wheat beers and this kit was advertised having strong banana aromas. And, yes, did that work out! Was very happy with the outcome, felt like I was sitting in a Biergarten in Munich. Very happy, already re-ordered.March 11, 2016Deliscious crowd pleaserThis was my second batch to make and it came out VERY GOOD! It took about 3 months to bottle condition before I passed a few out to taste test on friends. _x000D_ It's sweet with a deep flavor profile of grain, clove, and fruit. I love dark beers and wheat beers and this is an excellent blending of the flavors of each. It will warm you up on a snowy day and tastes great after a long day at work._x000D_ This brew has a good depth of character from the fresh grains that even my Hop-headed friend loved it!. _x000D_P.S. - I added 8 oz dark munich malt to make it unique and bring on a bigger malt flavor.February 13, 2010Another great wheatMidwest has some fantastic wheat brews to choose from. I started with the Bavarian and moved onto this, because I likes 'em dark. This brew did not disappoint. Great selection for those who like wheat brews a little darker but aren't overwhelmed with flavor.February 17, 2010Best I've had since GermanyThis turned out a great kit, really enjoyed it...a bit darker than I anticipated but tastes was spot on to what I grew used to in Germany.June 11, 2010Deep Dark Cherry WheatThis is my second time to brew this batch. Both times, I've added 4-5 lbs real cherries to the primary and let this thing sit for 4 weeks just in the primary. I added a little more hops to offset the cherry addition and skipped the secondary step, went right into keg. Definitely a good idea to let it mellow out in the fridge a few extra weeks before carbonating, cause with the cherries, it's a really deep beer.July 12, 2010Do yourself a favorOne of my favorite beers. Rich in flavor and aroma. This beer has bold body and a malty almost chewiness to it. This will be a staple for me. Great prices too! I will be back..again and again!March 20, 2011AmazingI was a little apprehensive about ordering this one due to the name, but it was the best beer I've made in my first year of brewing. Not only that, it's a real dunkelweizen through and through, and the best one I've ever drank. When winter rolls back around, I'm probably going to end up brewing at least two if not three more batches of this. I used the wyeast activator and kegged it. It would probably be a good one for bottles though, as I got a good banana note in the first day or two after carbing, but lost it once the yeast settle. My first few glasses tasted like a dark smokey Weihenstephaner. If you're on the fence about this one, order it and thank me later.April 11, 2011
