4.4 / 5.027 ReviewsGreat, except for one thingFirst let me say this is a shiny and solid piece of gear. The copper accents are a really nice cosmetic touch. Because of the three legs it is super stable and I have no fear of a tipover. But how does it work? Well, it usually works fantastically. It is stable, quiet and powerful. It can quickly heat 7 gallons of water on a cool breezy day, while managing to merely sip the propane. At then end of the day, the kettle is clean, unlike the aptly named Dark Star which left a black sooty mess everywhere. The problem with this is that almost every time I've used this, at some point the flame will blow back into the Venturi tube. When this happens, it becomes a loud and weak propane hog. The remedy is to restart the burner, usually several times and can take as long as 15 minutes to get it working correctly again.. I've tried adjusting everything that can be adjusted, but this has happened to me at least once on every brew day, and it is very frustrating.February 1, 2016Edelmetall awesomeFirst of all I just want to say how critical I am about my reviews, If I don't like something I have no problem in saying so._x000D__x000D_Built like a tank actually seen a video where 4 grown men stood on it equaling 980lbs. _x000D__x000D_Like another reviewer I also received this near the end of January with the Smokey The Beer kit, buy the burner get the beer kit free._x000D__x000D_I did not have the flame out (very windy day also )(gusts to 25 and temp was -4) as the other reviewer did (perhaps the air intake adjustment or a different position to the wind) Also as far as the air intake damper being thin (adequate in my opinion), it is made of stainless steel and once set it should not require any further adjustments._x000D__x000D_I used mine on my deck with no scratching from the legs at all. My deck is made of cedar which is quite soft and I take pride in the fact that it looks like a piece of furniture attached to the back of my home_x000D__x000D_The adjustment of the burner works flawlessly, from the smallest of flames to full throttle. You can also adjust the burner to fit your brew pot perfectly with the adjustable stainless steel metal brackets provided._x000D__x000D_Although the hose supplied is somewhat short, in my opinion works fine for my personal use. I don't like the idea of have a long hose for myself, kids, or one of my dogs tripping on it pulling my propane tank or burner over._x000D__x000D_If you're looking for a serious good looking and high performance burner this one will do you proud and by the construction of it should last for years_x000D__x000D_February 2, 2014Killer BurnerThis is performing great. My buddies using a turkey fryer burner are asking to borrow it.February 1, 2016Burner worked great. The burner was a gift and was used this past Saturday. Was twice as efficient as other gas burners.December 29, 2015Nice Burner - NG Conversion DIY OnlyLove the burner (first brew today), but I wish there was a natural gas conversion kit available. I wound up drilling out the orifice myself and replacing the hose with a CharBroil quick connect hose. Works great.November 12, 2017Purchased
1 month agoResponse from Midwest SuppliesWe are thrilled that you love the burner. We have heard of failed attempts for this conversion and do not recommend the modification. Happy brewing!November 13, 2017Todd JStaffblichman vs edelmetallPro has very good low flame control, very nice looking, brew kettle arms thick and strong_x000D__x000D_neg the gas line is short and rubber, air intake damper is thin and weak the legs may scratch wood decks if there is options of leg extentions I didn't see them._x000D__x000D_Received this burn jan 29 with the smokey the beer kit I was already brewing a red irish ale decided to compare the blichman to this burner in the wind the edelmetall flamed out and burned toward the damper blichman didn't have that problem boil took the same time on six gallons the edelmetall was more stable with the 3 legs than the blickman on four with the wider foot. If you are planning to get the blickman 3 tier get the blickman burners if you are going to do a bench setup the edelmetall will do fine if it just one burner you want flip a coin they are both very good burner that have enough power for 15 gallon potsJanuary 30, 2014Edelmetall BurnerI was able to do a side by side vs blichman burner the edelmetall is the nicer looking of the two burners and it has a better low flame control and seems to use less gas the ears that hold the pot in place are thicker and stronger, the thinner legs also make it more stable on uneven ground._x000D_The things I did not like about the edelmetall it has a very short gas line and it has a rubber jacket instead of a metal braid the air intake adjustment is thin and weak the leg may also scrape you deck. I had them both burning at the same time the edelmetall did flame out and burn back into the burner. If you are planning to get the top tier the blickmann is the way to go if you are going to do a bench setup the edelmetall will do just fine. if you only need one burner flip a coin there both very good burns and will bring 15 gallons to a boil.January 31, 2014May work but gas adapter flawedReceived this as a present. The adapter that converts the propane hose to the burner is very small and weak. When hand tightening into the burner it broke on the first use. Never used the burner, returned to store and thankfully returned without difficulty but bought a different burner all together.August 25, 2015Love this Burnerbought the Edelmetall burner 2 weeks ago and used it for the first time that weekend. I love the control, so easy to dial in what you need for heat. the power is there to bring to a boil very quickly.February 5, 2016Edelmetall Bru BunnerHave been using this for a little over two years, it has been reliable and heats up far faster that a glass cook top, ??where we began?. It ahas easy taken an hour off our day of brewing.August 3, 2016
- Customer Q&A
Browse 4 questions Browse 4 questions and 17 answersWhen this is burning correctly, is it very loud?BEST ANSWER: It depends on your gas regulator. If you are using the regulator that comes with the kit — yes, it’s rather loud. If you substitute regulators it may reduce the flow. I have been using this burner for three years with different regulators (due to being stationed overseas) and louder is better.Does it come with a regulator?BEST ANSWER: Yes it has a regulator at the tank, as most normal burners do. It also has a control valve at the burner itself. Can these burners be used with natural gas?BEST ANSWER: There is not a conversion kit commercially available for natural gas that I am aware of. If you're looking for less hassle to covert from LP, I would recommend a different burner with a readily available conversion kit like the BlichmannHow heavy of a boil kettle will this handle? I have a 30 and a 50 I need burners or stands for and need to know if this is up to the weight of those full of wort.BEST ANSWER: We have a 30 gallon and it is no problem at all, I suspect it will handle the 50 without a problem. It is great, took almost an hour off our brew day.
