3 months agoWorry-free FermentingMakes for worry-free fermenting. Tested it and had 45 degree tap heated to 76 degrees in roughly three hours. One set point (no upper or lower limit) but holds within 4 degrees of set point. Will need electrical tape to hold heater onto carboy. Worth the $February 10, 2019Purchased

10 months agoFermentation KitGreat Product, Product performed just as expected/advertised. I bought this kit and 2 extra wraps which I control with the single Thermostar (using a multi outlet power strip). My kit came with the smaller temperature probe (shown in picture) and the longer 12 inch probe. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 stars is because... In order to use the kit with a glass carboy or big mouth bubbler type fermenter I needed a double drilled bung (one) for the Airlock (and a 2nd) hole in the bung for the Temp Probe which was not provided with the kit, nor does Midwest Supplies even sell the bung, and therefore I had to find that through another online merchant. Perfect product for dialing in and controlling your desired temp for fermentation.March 14, 2018Purchased

Browse 7 questions Browse 7 questions and 15 answersWhat is the temp range on this item. Does it get to 110 or 120 F?BEST ANSWER: In theory yes, but in practice in winter it won't heat a 5 gal plastic carboy that warm.I don't see any mention of using this with a specific stopper, since I'm a bit ignorant here I'd like to know what else I need to complete the set. ThanksBEST ANSWER: There's not a specific stopper that you need for this. If you want to suspend the temperature probe in the beer
you can run the probe through the stopper hole before inserting the airlock. Alternately
you can tape the probe to the outside of the fermenter.can i use this with a glass carboy?BEST ANSWER: yes with the five gallon size water jug with the small opening, with a two hole cap. either i have a defective unit but the heat wrap wont work with the thermostar. How big is the heating wrap? Does it go all the way around the fermentor?BEST ANSWER: The heating wrap does not completely go around the Big Mouth fermenter, but does cover most of it. I secured it to the fermenter with either electricians tape or duct tape to make good surface contact. It has done a great job at maintaining the desired temperature. Will this work on stainless fermenters?BEST ANSWER: Hello!
The FermoTemp will work just fine on stainless fermenters. Will this work with a jacketed catalyst fermenter?BEST ANSWER: Hello!
Do not use this item with insulation on both sides, so I would not use this with a jacketed catalyst.I have a deep freeze I would like to start lagering in, is this kit all I need to solve my needs?BEST ANSWER: It is; or you can just set the freezer up with any of the temp controllers to be able to hold the temperature where you want it. With that "Fermentation Kit" you also have a heating wrap and long probe intended to be used to keep a carboy warmer than the surrounding area; or you can set up the long temp probe in the carboy in the controlled freezer to monitor the internal temp of the carboy, for more precise lagering temp monitoring. -Mike W, Midwest Supplies
