1 year agoNessesery equipmentGreat thermometer. Dont know how I managed out it before . Reads temp fast. Follow the boul temp. Adjusting gravity reading to temp. pH to temp. Grain tempreature before mash to calculate what tepm my mash water needs to be at. .... and when making yougurt. To follow the temp of milk. The use us endless. Battery seem to last a long time too. Best check is usually in ice water "bath" which should be right at 32F, but accuracy varies depending on the exact temperature being measured. (i.e. very high, very low)Is the thermometer waterproof?BEST ANSWER: No, I just used this item and within 30 minutes of it being out of the container I had water migration and it failed. Not a good tool for me
