Headwaters Ale Wyeast ACT1000 - 4.25 oz.

Headwaters Ale Wyeast ACT1000 - 4.25 oz.

SKU: ACT1000B

A clean, aggressive ale strain well suited for American style ales and German style ales. This strain does well at lower temperatures, but stays clean even at the warmer end of the temperature range. Though it is a slight top cropper during fermentation, it does not settle out quickly and therefore will benefit from a longer conditioning/settling time in the secondary.

We strongly recommend ordering dry yeast in the summer months. We do include complimentary ice packs with all liquid yeasts. It is difficult to guarantee that the ice packs will survive the trip given transit times and particularly hot temperatures.

Follow-up
Very good results. Took a 5g keg to a party last weekend. They finished it in a few hours. I bought more of this yeast and I am brewing again today._x000D__x000D_The first batch of the series using this yeast came out similar to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. A friends conclusion that I had not realized. Making that again today and will do a direct comparison in a few weeks.

Great yeast
This does get fermentation going and is usually ready for secondary by day 4 or 5. It does seem to hang around in suspension a little bit so I would stay away from this strand if you are into getting your beer really clear.

Wow!
What a top-cropper! This great tasting American ale yeast is very active. I added 1kg of honey to the pumpkin ale extract kit, and this yeast was producing around an inch of krausen in the secondary 10 days after brewing. It also had nearly 100% attenuation (FG = 1.003), bringing the ABV to 7.2%. I was a little concerned it would stall when the alcohol got up above 6%, but it did great. I'll definitely use this yeast again, and make sure I have plenty of head space in the primary.

Awesome
I love this yeast! The wyesst packs are awesome. This added a great flavor to my sierra clone. Will buy again.

Headwaters ROCKS!
Great results. I used this in my Sierra Nevada clone kit. I could def. tell a difference with it and the safe al-4, I've used before. I pulled the pack out 4 hours before I started brewing. In no time, my primary fermenter started bubbling after I added the yeast. I will buy Headwaters for my next pale ale brew.

Used in a Sierra Nevada Clone
Nice beer form this yeast. It gets going fast and is done fast but takes a while in the secondary to settle out.

Never stalls out
I brew with this a few times a year and it always starts strong and finishes strong and I never miss my target gravity. I don't even make a starter with it, I just smack the pouch and pour it in 4 hours later. i do use the yeast nutrients and an Oxygen stone at the start to aerate it.

Still very pleased with this yeast. Have batch 1 of a series of several relatively light (

Fast fermenter, clean profile
I've used this yeast several times, typically for American Pale Ales. If the temp is above +/- 72F it can ferment very quickly and has caused me to rig up a blowoff hose at least twice. If kept below this temperature however, it behaves very well and still ferments quickly. The profile after fermentation is very clean, no noticable "yeast" flavor or aroma, which works well if you want to accentuate the malt/hops in your beers.

Mid steam of first time usage
Very fast fermentation start. Definitely a top fermenting yeast. I do all my fermentation in carboys w/ blow-off hose for primary. I tend to brew several (3 or 4) batches in quick sequence and reuse the primary fermenter vessel over and over to recycle the yeast in lieu of top cropping. Yesterday was 6 days in on batch 1 which was transferred for secondary. Batch 2 was blowing off w/in 2 hours. That may be a record. Fermenting in spare bedroom at about 50 deg. Will follow-up in a few weeks when batch 1 gets into a keg and is ready to sample. _x000D__x000D_One bummer. Apparently the price has gone up since I bought this a couple weeks ago.
