DetailsYou better watch out because there’s a monster on the loose - this lean mean hop machine will maul your tastebuds. You might think 1.5 oz of hops seems a bit paltry, but keep in mind that this is a one gallon batch. That works out to a whopping 7.5 oz of hops if you were making five gallons. Crafted in the style of a West Coast IPA, expect a clean, lightly caramelly, uncomplicated malt profile that really allows the fresh citrusy flavors and aromas of the Cascade hops to shine through. Do you dare do battle with the Hop Monster?

5.0 / 5.05 ReviewsEasy all grain experienceGood beer and a good way to see what all grain is all about without buying all the equipment. This is how I introduced by friend to all grain, we made it while I was making a large scale beer. No risk of a stuck sparge, no risk of lousy extraction, easy to adjust temperature in a pot, though you lose temperature faster.January 27, 2014Easy and great feedback from friends.2nd beer I ever brewed and after 2 weeks fermenting and 2 more bottle conditioning I gave a few bottles out to friends to try. The feedback was great and a few have asked me to brew this again for a summer session IPA.January 17, 20151 gallon brewers unitLots of hoppiness in this IPA. These 1 gallon kits are a smart way to experience all grain without any big investment in equipment. Make 10 beers and see what you think of the style._x000D_March 16, 2014Good and hoppyThis is a good and hoppy beer, as an IPA should be. I want to test a concept for an upcoming wedding. I notice a few differences. 1. There is no stopper?airlock used. Instead you ask that a screw cap / hole / tube blow off arrangement is used. Is that due to the small size of the glass fermenter? Too much kreusen in a small space? 2. No secondary fermenter 3. Bottle primed with table sugar?
the answers to these would be appreciated.BEST ANSWER: Hi John,
To answer your questions:
1- Yes, the small space of the 1 gallon fermentor means that a blowoff tube is a good approach
2- Secondary is helpful when there is a lot of sediment build up at the bottom, this is not generally necessary for this small of a batch
3- Yep, table sugar will work for priming beer regardless of batch sizeWhat will the ABV of the final product be?BEST ANSWER: While the actual ABV of this kit will vary greatly depending on the specifics of your brew, you can expect this kit to have an ABV somewhere between 5% and 7%.
