Extremely Quaff-able
Got this kit as my first attempt at home brewing and like the other reviews was a bit nervous (but then very pleased) with the whole process._x000D__x000D_I did one week in the primary, two in the secondary, then cold crashed in the keg for 10 days (while beer was carbonating). Hardest thing to me was waiting for that first pull, but the wait was worth it! Biggest plus was that the wife liked it. _x000D__x000D_Other reviews complain about the hoppiness of the product but I wouldn?t worry about that. I did the full 2 ounces and it wasn?t bitter at all. _x000D__x000D_The guys at Midwest are great at Customer Service; they definitely earned my business. _x000D_

Simple recipe with wonderful rewards
This was my first brew after a couple years of doing wine. I was a little skeptical at first with wine, as I was with beer as well, but I could not be more pleased with both experiences. _x000D__x000D_There is a very nice citrus finish to this beer. It does not over-do the taste of the beer. This light beer is easy to enjoy a few at a time. _x000D__x000D_I tried at 1 week post bottle (not the recommended 2) and it was 100% drinkable! From all my hobbyist peers in the homebrew field, they tell me it will improve greatly in a couple more weeks. I do not doubt this, as the same was true with all my wine recipes (even the Island Mist series). _x000D__x000D_If you're new to brewing, give this a try as your first brew. I did an Apple Ale along side this, and it is hardly ready compared to this. The apple ale is known to take a bit longer in the bottle. That said...this was drinkable after week 1 of being bottled, and after 2, it was a lot more than drinkable! Perhaps week 3 and beyond will make this a repeat buy for me!

Great Everday Beer!
Super smooth beer with kind of a sweet, malty finish. Control the sweetness by changing up the brewing time for the bittering hops and holding some of the malt back for the end of the brewing period._x000D__x000D_Great beer to offer family and friends.

Great Ale
This was the ale kit I chose for my first brew. My wife and I were extremely surprised and satisfied at this wonderful Ale. It is very smooth and has a great taste. I was very pleased with myself for a first try. I will most likely brew this Liberty Cream Ale. I have the Big Ben Pale Ale on order. Can't wait to brew and drink this one.

Good Beer for Mowing the Yard
This was a good beer and has been enjoyed by everyone that has had a glass. Since my kegerator is in the garage I usually take a quick break while I'm mowing the yard. Taste wise it's beer. I don't really get any extra flavor. Basically you know what your drinking.

Has anyone added any additional flavorings? I was thinking of making a Vanilla Cream Ale out of this kit, and was wondering what others have added.

BEST ANSWER: This is a good, basic kit, and is a good choice for a base from which to create a more original beer out of. It's a good one for adding a fruit flavor extract, or adding real fruit; I'm less confident that vanilla would be right for it, though. It's not a "cream" ale in the sense that it has a milk or lactose component, in this case it's more of a style name. We see vanilla being added more often to darker beers, but it can be good in other styles as well. I'd just be careful not to add too much, as it can be overpowering. - Mike W, Midwest Supplies
