DetailsAn extra stir bar is a good idea in case you are doing more than one starter or as a backup. These things can get lost down the drain when cleaning out starter flasks after being pitched into a primary fermenter.

4.9 / 5.018 ReviewsA must haveGreat value, its Teflon coated so it will last, very smooth spinning unlike the spin bars that have a Integral Pivot Ring causing them to bounce around. perfect for 500ml. flasks.July 1, 2012Great Stir BarThis stir bar works great in any small flask; even works well in 2000 ML flasks. It's much quieter than other bars that have the lip in the middle that causes them to jump around. This bar stays where the magnet is.November 7, 2012t worksIts smaller and you can get a better spin out of it then the larger onesFebruary 7, 2017Purchased
over 2 years agoBetter than my old stir barOne day I couldn't find my old stir bar so I ordered this. I like it better than the original. I use it in a 2 liter flask, and it's fine. It doesn't have the band in the center so it spins easier, without skitting around.February 9, 2013The right size for a 2 liter flaskMy flask is flat on the bottom so it holds the stir bar in place. It makes little noise and works well. I make sure not to subject it to heat - meaning when I make my yeast starter, I remove the stir bar, and add it after the starter is cooled.March 25, 2013Good for an Erlenmeyer flaskI make yeast starters in an Erlenmeyer flask on a stir plate, and use this stir bar to keep the yeast in suspension. It doesn't get thrown, it stays in place and spins. So it does what it's supposed to do.April 2, 2013Get lotsIt is a good idea to have 2-3 more stir bars than you ever think you will need. These often get dumped into carboys so they are out of commission until you rack the beer out of primary. If you are doing another starter before then, you need an extra stir bar.April 25, 2013Good for making startersThe stir bar works fine, doesn't skip and keeps the yeast in suspension in the flask on the stir plate. I use a rare earth magnet to keep it from falling into the wort when pitching.June 4, 2013Needed for yeast stratersThis is teh stir bar you want, not the big one. The big one can be off center and will get thrown. The small one works well. In a 2 liter flask filled to the top I get a dimple which is pretty good (though a vortex would be better)._x000D_July 15, 2013
