Browse 2 questions Browse 2 questions and 3 answersIf I make 5 gallons of IPA, should I add 1 lb of this malt?BEST ANSWER: Style wise, I don't think IPA would include Munich malt, which to me is an adjunct used to promote the milder, noble hops. What does usage % mean?BEST ANSWER: This refers to the maximum proportion of a specific malt to the total amount of grain. For Bonlander Munich, the malting company recommends using no more than half (50%) of this grain as part of the total grain bill. For most recipes, the other half may be made up mostly Pilsner malt (say 40%) with some darker grains (often 10% or less). Light barley grains, like Pilsner and light Munich, may be used up to 100%. The darker grains get from there, the lower the % used.
