1 year agoI have my first batch in the carboy already. The only thing that i would change is have a fermenting bucket. I do not like the bubbler I had to debur the opening for the stopper it chewed up the first one I put in.January 7, 2017Purchased
over 2 years agoDon't understandWhy the fermenter and other jugs are too small to do the entire batch. Had to go out and buy correct sizes.August 2, 2016Response from Midwest SuppliesTony,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. The primary 6.5 gallon Big Mouth Bubbler and secondary 3 gallon carboy should be big enough to make a 3 gallon batch of wine. What size batch were you making?

Not knowing anything about wine making ... is everything I need to produce a fruit wine included in this kit ... the how to?What bottles do you recommend for fruit wine such as watermelon?BEST ANSWER: Any bottle will suffice but for fruit or some of the wine-cooler types, I’m just starting to use screw-tops.Can this kit still be used for grapes? Or is there a specific kit I should use just for grapes?BEST ANSWER: I believe it can be, with all of the caveats about sterilization. I have used it to make plum wine, satsuma wine, muscadine (yes, they are grapes😀) and rice wine. All with good results!
Ferment away!!What type of yeast does this come with? How many bottles does this kit make?BEST ANSWER: Depending on how much you lose during racking but generally figure about 14 bottlesWould this kit work to make hard cider in addition to fruit wines?BEST ANSWER: Ive never made hard cider but Im sure it would work. I bought this same kit to make wine and it had everything you need to start just follow the directions and keep notes as you go. Its really pretty simple and lots of fun good luck and enjoy RtI am a novice wine maker, where can I get step by step instructions for this kit and detailed directions?BEST ANSWER: Thanks for reaching out. With fruit wine there are many different ways to get to the same end product. I will leave a link below that actually is from a video we did on our 1 gallon fresh harvest kit. The ingredients, processes, and recipes will be mostly the same just smaller amounts.
https://youtu.be/0ta3P44YW5gWhat size corks come with this kit?BEST ANSWER: The corks are #8, straight, by 1 3/4".What size is the nylon pulp straining bag?BEST ANSWER: The mesh straining bag is 2' X 3'If this is for a 3 gallon kit why does the description say it has enough to do 15 1-gallon batches?BEST ANSWER: Hello,
The carboys/equipment in the kit are set up for making 3 gallon batches. The supplies such as the pectic enzyme etc is enough to make 15 1 gallon batches or 5 3 grallon batches. I hope that this helps! If most wine kits are for 6 gallons how would I use a 3 gallon kit like this?BEST ANSWER: This kit is designed for making wine from fruit from scratch. Three gallons is a nice size since getting enough fruit for a 6 gallon batch could be a little tough. It would certainly work with any concentrates though. The Master Vintner Wine Starter Kit, item # U7620 is made to do 6 gallon batches from kits.
