To bring you a bit of English brewing heritage we developed the “Old Ale” blend. It includes an attenuative ale strain along with a small amount of Brettanomyces. The blend will ferment well in dark worts, producing fruity beers with nice complexity. The Brettanomyces adds a pie cherry-like flavor and sourness during prolonged aging.

Yeast cells are active and living organisms. A slight expansion in Wyeast packaging is normal and does not indicate poor yeast health. Certain strains, including 1056 and 1338, are more prone to expansion than others. Please visit the Wyeast FAQ for more details.

- Customer Q&A
Browse 1 question Browse 1 question and 1 answerWhen will wyeast 9097 be available again?BEST ANSWER: Hard to say with the "Private Collection" yeasts! Some will come back regularly, some are not ever released again. The last time we got any was January 2016, so we really don't know if it will become available from Wyeast anytime soon again. -Mike W, Midwest Supplies
