Dark star stainless burner

I fired it up yesterday. Solid performance, got my boil fast with control. I used my old black painted Dark star burner for heating my sparge water.

Great Burner!

I’ve used a high pressure turkey fryer for my brewing heat source for years. But, it always caused my boil kettle to have a scorched wort layer about 6” diameter inside on the bottom. I used my new Dark Star burners for the first time and found it provided perfect heat for my 8 gallon kettles with no scorching and very little heat loss from around the sides. I’m Happy!

Dark Star Stainless Burner

Though it functioned seamlessly, it did not heat my strike water as fast as I had hoped.

Dark Star Stainless Burner, Why Did I Wait!

For years I used a simple turkey cooker burner and it never burned clean so my kettle would have black soot all over it after every brew. The Dark Star burner can easily be adjusted to burn clean and hotter than my old turkey burner. No more black soot! Well worth the investment.

Sturdy and a serious upgrade to my former turkey fryer

The Dark Star holds up to 150 lbs (per the owners manual), was very sturdy for my 15-gallon kettle, and heated water way faster than my old turkey fryer. I agree with Jame E below - in terms of quality and functionality, it was "more than expected."
