I've been using this brand since 2001. Always turn out great. Since a blight took out my elderberry bushes and even the local wild ones years ago this is my go to source for Elderbery wine. Can't recommend it any higher. Of course a can was $25 when I started using it. LOL
I have used it before and liked it.
The recipe says it can make either 3 or 5 gallons of wine. The first time I made it I made 3 gallons and thought it was a bit strong tasting, so I always added a little water when I poured a glass. This time, I used the 5 gallon option and am looking forward to some very good wine.
making wine from fruit base is new to me .but vintners base made it easy .I'm from the old school .grind grapes ferment strain press the let it work ,boy this base sure took a lot of work out of it
This base makes excellent wine.. I've made both the 3gal and 5gal versions and people love them. I add sorbate and backsweeten to about 40g/L Elderberry has a distinctive dark fruit flavor and you don't see it on shelves very often. I make fruit wines with several bases and donate them to charity auctions, people don't mind donating $20 to get a bottle of old time country wine.
