Yeast cells are active and living organisms. A slight expansion in Wyeast packaging is normal and does not indicate poor yeast health. Certain strains, including 1056 and 1338, are more prone to expansion than others. Please visit the Wyeast FAQ for more details.

i used this in a Belgian blonde batch. it just went into secondary and it smells and tastes excellent. the balance is perfect at this point with hops, banana, clove (in the nose and taste). i split the batch and the other yeast created a bubblegum taste. primary was at 62 degrees for 4 days. OG was 1.065 and after 4 days it's 1.016. used 96% belgian pils and the balance was Acid malt. Hops is Perle, Mt Hood and Citra. only wish i had more of this than the other part of the batch.
