Oregon strawberries are smaller but more flavorful that those grown elsewhere. One 96 oz. can makes a fuller flavor and bodied 3 gallon batch or a lighter 5 gallon batch of wine. MAKES A GREAT WINE
This product might be good for adding a fruit flavor to a wine or beer, however it is not suitable to make a wine solely from this as a base. When diluted to 5 gallons it requires sugar to ferment. You would be making fermented table (or other) sugar with a fruit additive. It smelled very nice, but it is just 96oz of canned strawberries not a base used for making wine.
Made a five gallon batch using two cans of base, double the recommended amount. Found bases to only contain a few pieces of actual fruit, less than a dozen strawberries per can. After aging wine found it lacking in flavor. Again!
I made a 4 gallon batch with this fruit base. I found that I needed to add another 4lbs of strawberries from the local store. Once I did that, I got the consistency I was looking for. Not a bad product, but I would diffidently recommend adding three or four lbs of fruit to this fruit base.
