Wyeast 4028 red wine yeast is ideal for the production of rapidly maturing red or white wines.

We strongly recommend ordering dry yeast in the summer months. We do include complimentary ice packs with all liquid yeasts. It is difficult to guarantee that the ice packs will survive the trip given transit times and particularly hot temperatures.



Ideal for red or white wines, which mature rapidly with Beaujolais type fruitiness, and for bigger reds requiring aging. Low foaming, low sulfur production over a broad range of temperatures.

How much do you recommend for 15 gal of red wine grapes?

BEST ANSWER: I used a single packet of this for approximately 20 gallons of crushed zinfandel grapes at 26.25 degrees brix. Worked great and I was very happy with the results (much better flavor than a Rockpile high alcohol wine yeast I tried on a different batch). Because of concerns with heat exposure during shipping I switched to a dry yeast this year, Scott D254.
