DetailsRubber Grommets seem to run off when you need them most. Make sure to have an extra, or two, on hand, just in case. This is the grommet that fits in all of our pre-drilled plastic lids with a 5/8" diameter hole.

4.9 / 5.010 ReviewsGood idea to have extrasYou need these in order to create a seal between the airlock and your fermenting bucket. The kits come with one, but as I found out they can escape! When I was attaching the airlock for the first time, apparently I pushed too hard and the grommet came free of the hole and dropped into the must...of course it sank immediately. A backup grommet would have been nice to have at that point.October 5, 2012Does Its JobI torn one of these that came on my fermenter by pulling the airlock in and out. Like the other review says, it wouldnt be a bad idea to have a few of these just in case something happens. These are just cheap rubber so they will break over time.October 19, 2012Can't afford to NOT have an extra laying aroundFits any standard lid. I recommend having a few extra of these laying around in case you tear one, drop it in a bucket, etc. They are inexpensive and very necessary.December 10, 2012These are excellent and I regret not having bought moreI have these on my older pails and they have never torn and make a perfect seal. Apparently they haven't been available for 2 months, which is a shame, because they are better than the substitutes. The moment they are back in stock I will buy a bunch to replace the substitute grommets I have.February 10, 2013ExcellentThis is a must if you get a bucket lid. You can score food grade buckets all over and save yourself a ton of money compared to the fermentor buckets sold here. All you need is this little guy inserted into the lid and you have yourself a fermentor.February 14, 2013Solid, necessary, inexpensiveRecently broke one of these - now I always have two on hand. The new one instantly re-created the seal that I needed for my bucket!March 10, 2014grommetThis is a lot better than the original one in my fermenter. This seal well and fit very tight in the bucket lid. It is valueMarch 31, 2015Great FitThis grommet is much tighter and more secure than the black rubber one that came with one of my lids. Definitely recommend!July 5, 2015Just what I neededThe one that came with the lid broke so I thought I would try this so I only ordered one. I wish I would of ordered several. It was are to get in the hole, after all that is what you want but once I got it in there it did the job. I have about 5 fermenter buckets so I will be ordering more as sparesDecember 12, 2016Purchased

Browse 2 questions Browse 2 questions and 3 answersThe rubber stoppers (not to be confused with the Universal stoppers) emit a very strong/pungent rubber smell that actually infused into my wine so I stopped using them (afterwards I only used the universal robber stoppers). Does this red rubber grommet emmit a rubber odor as well or is it odor netural? Thanks!BEST ANSWER: We have not noticed a strong rubber smell off of them. A rubber stopper that smells can be soaked in a cleaner or one trick is actually to leave it in the sun for a couple days - this causes any odors to fade. Cheers.will this work for a bed warmer stopper?BEST ANSWER: Hmmm, not sure what you are referring to. This is a grommet with a hole for an airlock, the smaller part of the grommet fits into a 5/8" hole in a bucket lid. I am not sure of the use you are asking about, so I cannot say if it would work for that purpose. -Mike W, Midwest Supplies
