Product Details

A version of dunkelweizen (German dark wheat beer) that's brewed with a large percentage of rye instead of wheat, Roggenbier is an old Bavarian specialty. Our kit exhibits a rich reddish-brown color and the pungent spiciness of rye malt with bready, malty overtones. Excellent with cold cuts and rye bread or crackers (of course!).

worth the effort

I have made this several times. Great flavor that is hard to find in commercially available beers. Beware that rye can get pretty gummy. First time, I used a RIMS connected to a cooler with a manifold in the bottom. Got a few clogs and had an arduous brew day. Next time I used a BIAB inside the cooler above the manifold and everything worked great.

One of my favorite beers

My first All-Grain Kit

So far so good, still in the secondary. It was definitely a bit more work being an all-grain kit, but I managed it without any fancy equipment. Looks to be very Robust, and cant wait for it to finish!
