Took this to my brewer's guild meeting and was greatly received by all. Will brew again.October 27, 2010Excellent!I made the all-grain kit as instructed. The beer came out perfect! Nice balance between the malt flavor and the bitterness and the color is an awesome deep ruby red! The aroma really lets you appreciate the Simcoe hop variety. I like these Midwest kits that isolate a single hop - really lets you experience the bitterness and aroma of a single hop unaffected by other varieties in the boil. Simcoe has a intense flavor to it. It was fruity and bitter. It leaned towards grapefruit . Beer was good in body, but Simcoe isn't for me.August 28, 2013YowzaThis is 1 fantastic beer! I had 4 kegs in the keezer for 2 fantasy football draft parties and this was 1st and only to blow. The simcoe hops are mighty tasty and compliment the malt profile just perfect. I want to brew this 1 again but I must get rid of other beer first. I highly recommemnd this to any homebrewer out there.August 30, 2013Very GoodThis is a very good recipe, reminiscent of SMASH brewing. I like Simcoe a lot; this made a very good IPA.May 22, 20132 Stars maybeI made this beer in extract kit before I got my all grin brewing setup and it was 5 stars; best beer I ever made in extract so far. Then I brewed the all grain version and what a disappointment. Really 9.5 lbs. of golden promise! Way to sweet and did not let the simcoe hops shine. Sometime I wonder if Midwest actually brew and tastes there kits. Highly recommend brewers cut the golden promise by at least half and substitute with 2 row.March 21, 2017
