The plastic is thick and durable, to ensure rigidity and safety during all kinds of brewing operations. Free of plasticizers, BPA, DEHP, and any other extraneous compounds, this fermentor is purpose-built for your finest brews. Hydrophobic, which means it is easy to clean without the use of brushes - it also retains no odor, flavor or color from batch to batch, so it will last a long time.

carboy
I prefer the 6 over the 5 gallon carboys. To me, it is a better value, for you can make a gallon more and it does not take up anymore space.

Awesome Carboy
I use this for my secondary fermenter. I like that I can see how the beer clarifies as the days progress.

Better Bottle Better
Mouth doesn't seem to fit medium universal stopper too well. Seems loose too loose. Better bottle was better!

Is the plastic carboy as good as the glass carboy?
G R on Jul 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Greg,

Thanks for contacting us! Glass and plastic each have their advantages. Plastic is lighter and it won't shatter if dropped, but glass tends to offer more protection against oxygen permeability. It's a matter of personal opinion, and usually depends in large part on your own preferences and brewing techniques. Let me know if my answer helps or not, and if not, I'll try again!!

Cheers,

Charles
