4 months agoNice to have not neededI purchased this item to try and reduce the electric bill associated with running the grainfather. On the surface it seems like the process goes fasted and I've noticed that the heating element seems to turn off occasionally now. I did not notice that before. I will say that it's also nice to have wrapped around the machine as it can get hot while you are using it. I will say that while it's easy enough to clean, boil overs mean you need to clean the machine an the coat. Over all it's worth having.July 2, 2018Purchased

Browse 1 question Browse 1 question and 5 answersIs this necessary for summer brewing?BEST ANSWER: Not really, but I've had the Graincoat for a year now and since I always brew outside on the patio I leave it on all the time. It probably does help to get the temperature up faster, even in summer, and also helps to maintain the temperature once you reach it. So that's easier on the heating elements in the long run. Plus it just looks good! Actually I just did a thorough cleaning of the entire unit last weekend, so I removed the Graincoat and was pleased to find it was in good shape, any residue from the occasional boil over cleaned up well and I'm very glad that I added the Graincoat to my Grainfather. Well worth the money. Happy brewing!
