DetailsBeing able to check your fermentation status from your compatible Apple iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Tilt Pi and most Bluetooth 4.0+ Bluetooth devices means virtually no susceptibility to contamination or oxygen pickup in your fermenter. Data can be saved automatically to the cloud with free Google Sheets template or your own, favorite 3rd party cloud platform. Search for the Tilt app in your app store on your device.
Tilt comes calibrated and fully-assembled with a pre-installed battery. Download the free app, sanitize the unit, drop into the fermenter and start tracking your readings with your synced device.
Multiple Unit Users: If using more than one Tilt Hydrometer and Thermometer at a time, you must use a different color Tilt for each batch. Apps will not read multiple hydrometers of the same color. Midwest Supplies offers 8 different colors for multiple, simultaneous fermentations.
Range: Ability to send data through large, thick-walled fermenters.
Precision: Specific gravity is accurate within +/- 0.002 if brewing in the range of .990 - 1.120. Thermometer is accurate within +/- 1 degree fahrenheit.
Universal: Works in most standard carboys, corny kegs, refrigerators, stainless steel fermenters, even under pressure!

1 month agoEasy to use, removes guessworkA good purchase. I'm using it for the first time now and Tilt has worked flawlessly. Following the SG on my iPhone just to see how the SG is decreasing during fermentation is great. The iPhone app is simple and easy to use.July 29, 2019Purchased
2 months agoGreat way to monitor fermentation and tempThis was my second TILT. I had two fermentations going simultaneously (one in glass and the other in a stainless conical). It was a breeze to monitor both and record the data. For those considering adding a second or third TILT, do make sure that you get different colors.July 19, 2019Purchased
3 months agoGreat if your OCD about measuring gravityGreat little sensor that takes the misery out of taking gravity readings. Download the app, take the sensor out of its packaging, calibrate it in water, chuck it in your fermenting brew, seal it up and then use your phone over the next few days to inspect the gravity readings.
If your just looking to spot check the gravity reading, the app works fine for that (recommend Tilt 2) but is kind of basic. Fun to be able to plot yeast activity curves. There are options for automatic data logging which I've not played around with, but the app isn't very user friendly (so I've taken a star off).
The battery is already pre-installed, and will need replacing. You'll need to visit the manufacters website on how to remove as there aren't any instructions in the box.
The quick setup instructions included in the box do not mention they need to calibrate the sensor but the feature is available on the app.June 18, 2019Purchased

Q. Does the Tilt work in stainless steel conical fermenters?
A. Yes. We have hundreds of customers using the Tilt in a variety of SS fermenters. You will have reduced Bluetooth range and will need to place your smartphone/tablet closer to your fermenter to receive data. You can also purchase a Tilt repeater specifically designed for stainless steel to extend
