""Hefe" means yeast, "Weizen" means wheat. Long ago in the south of Germany, the two combined to create this tasty sought-after wheat beer. Fast forward to 2000, when a homebrewer named Hank introduced us to his Hefeweizen beer recipe, and we’ve been selling it ever since! This popular non-hoppy Hefeweizen beer recipe kit delights a wide range of beer lovers with its medium body and effervescence. Fill a stein and serve with a slice of lemon. Prost!

  • Light, blonde and a bit cloudy with a creamy head
  • Slightly sweet, fruity and non-bitter, with medium body; often served with a slice of lemon
  • Ingredients include: 6 lbs. wheat liquid, 1 lb. of Light DME, 8 oz. Carapils® specialty grains, 1 oz. Tettnang hops, yeast, priming sugar and a grain bag

We strongly recommend ordering dry yeast in the summer months. We do include complimentary ice packs with all liquid yeasts, but it is difficult to guarantee that the ice packs will survive the trip given transit times and particularly hot temperatures.

A nice and easy good brew Review by Don

(Posted on 8/2/15)

Product Rating:

Mine also came out a lot darker then the picture, but is a good beer no-less. I did a 6.5 gal boil. When I do this beer again I will do a late addition of the LME to try to lighten the color. SG 1.050 FG 1.008 Fermented in the mid 70s Wyeast 3068 3 weeks primary.
A very Easy to make, Easy to drink Summer Beer, and a good price. I recommend it.

Product Rating:

I needed a nice beer kegged quick. 2 Weeks primary, 1 week secondary and force carbed. This is a really nice refreshing Hefe. My friends loved it. Good think I have another kit to brew! Nothing says summer like sipping a nice hefe on the porch after doing some yard work!

Solid Kit for a Solid Hefewiezen Review by Kevin

(Posted on 5/20/15)

Product Rating:

Solid beer kit. I used the listed Wyeast activator with great results. As others have noted, the color came out a shade darker than I'd expect from a hef but the flavor and mouth feel is spot on. Fermentation was very active and quick. Let it carbonate in the bottle for a solid month and the flavor will even out well. This will make for a great beer this summer. I'm sure I'll come back to this kit again.

Great beer, having graduated from bottle conditioning to keg - this is the first beer I have in a keg. It is great, so smooth, recommend it and I will definitely be brewing this one soon again.

1st and Original Review by Wes

Product Rating:

This was my first brew a while back and it came out great as i flavored half the batch with razberry extract filler. It was a great addition and the color and taste was perfect. (tip - just don't use the whole bottle of extract - it can be overwhelming). I recommend this and would buy it again.

This brew is so good- I love it Review by JT

Product Rating:

I wasn't sure of it when I bought it but the brew turned out creamy, crisp, and smooth. I added a clementine to the 2nd fermentation and it turned out wonderful. If you like a hefen, this is a good one.

Excellent Hefe Brew Review by AWC

(Posted on 9/11/14)

Product Rating:

I definitely recommend this brew if you're a fan of Hefes. You can definitely taste the undertones of banana and cloves, and its not overpowering. I agree with other reviews, it did turn out darker than expected, however don't let that fool you on the taste! If you're on the fence deciding to try it, go for it, its worth it.

Darker that i Thought Review by Joe

(Posted on 7/13/14)

Product Rating:

It was a lot darker than I was expecting. almost more like and amber or darker. I did add some lemon juice at the end of the boil. Good flavor and it gets better after sitting in the bottle more than 4 weeks.

Darker than I expected Review by jakesemi

(Posted on 7/7/14)

Product Rating:

Just got done with this brew. Pretty uneventful though, not alot to do during the boil. however very good taste lots of banana flavor. excellent brew for beginners like myself.
Also I used the Wyeast which caused a darker beer than i expected for a finished product.
