money saver over liquid yeast

This yeast is very similar to the liquid 1056 and wlp001, but costs less. Maybe slightly different, but not very noticeable. Any recipe calling for a clean American ale yeast can use this one.

As far as dried yeast goes, this one is clean and some what consistent. I have never had a problem with this yeast..

Best pale ale yeast available

This is the best pale ale yeast available, bar none. I use it a lot and it always starts well and gives a clean profile that really lets the hops show through. Others may argue the point, but with a dry yeast this good, who needs a liquid yeast?

This was my first time using dry yeast. I wanted a clean yeast as I was making an experimental SMaSH (Single Malt and Single Hop) brew for our club SMaSH competition. I wanted a clean yeast so that the malt and hop flavors wouldn't be interfered with. I used 2 packets rehydrated in 8 ounces of warm water (~90F) as my O.G. was 1.062. It started quickly and proceeded for almost 2 weeks at 68F! I didn't think it would ever end ;) I used a blow off tube luckily as krausen filled the carboy and went out the tube to my beer bottle airlock! F.G was 1.010. Very clean taste. Highly recommended!

Does the trick

I used this in both of Midwest's Liberty Cream Ale and Autumn Amber Ale kits and agree with the other reviews that it is a good inexpensive option. However it definitely has a strong taste - sour, not in a bad way, and kind of grassy - and I will probably use the 1056 instead when I really want the other ingredients to come through (this was really good in the Cream Ale, because the recipe is simple) Hope this helps!

Having used various yeasts, I can say that Safale-05 is hands down my favorite ale yeast. Always performs as expected and can handle low 70's fermentation temps without any off flavors.

Has to be the Best Dry Yeast...

US-05 is the most neutral, clean, dry yeast available. Yet, it still imparts a sublte delicious character to all my brews. Way better than Notty, which gives off funky, gross flavors. US-05 is all I use!

Amazing Stuff!

Wow this stuff is great! Fermented around 72F in my basement during the hottest part of the year, and came out just fine. I wouldn't call this one slow, but definitely steady. The airlock bubbled quite a bit for about 48 hours, but nothing violent. This will be my go-to for most Ales.

I have used this yeast many times. It is easy to use, and keep on hand. It is a clean, neutral yeast that performs consistantly. I have also used 1056, WLP001, and Headwaters. They too are excellent, but I would not hesitate to use US-05 in their place. This is my go to yeast for my "house beers", a cream ale and a slightly mild IPA (not everyone will drink the big hops).

I used this yeast to make a Bells 2 Hearted ale clone. The beer turned out great and i would use Safale US-05 again. I will use this again for APA.
