way better than an ice bath Review by danr

Product Rating:

I read some comments that copper cools faster than stainless steel, but this one works great for me. I was previously using an ice bath and this works much faster. I like that stainless steel does not oxidize and generally prefer it to copper for any equipment that will touch my beer.

Great for chilling Review by JSP

Product Rating:

This is a great product. You can go with a copper chiller but this product will last longer and you can drop it directly into your wort about 20 minutes before your boil ends and not have to worry about cleaning this sucker as thoroughly as you would have to if you didn't boil it.

Stronger than copper chiilers Review by Koosman

Product Rating:

Its stronger and lighter than copper chillers, doesn't form the toxic verdigris, and easier to clean. It cools just as well and overall is good enough for 5 gallons.

Cooled wort in a little over 10 min. Much quicker and more convenient than having to make an ice bath.

The chiller works really well. Boiling to pitch in about a half hour. No more waiting hours to pitch yeast. I would recommend this to anyone.

Product Rating:

Its stronger, easier to clean, and doesn't develop that toxic green coating that has to be removed. It works quickly and can cool down a 5 gallon batch in 20 minutes.

ss wort chiller Review by tony

This wort chiller works great. It took about 20 minutes to get wort to temperature below 80 degrees. I pulled the coils apart just a little bit to speed up the chilling process.

Fast! Review by Steve M

Pro
I usually have close to 3 gallons at the end of a boil. Along with a sink of just plain cold water, this cools me down as far as I need to go in about ten minutes. I keep a couple gallons of spring water in the fridge and one at room temp to get me the rest of the way to pitching temp.
Con
The connections to the vinyl tubing. At higher water pressure they will leak, and I can't tighten them any more. The short 90 degree turn at the top of the uprights does not extend far enough for any leakage to drip back down the vinyl tubing - the drips go into my wort. Lord knows the count of nasties inside that connection isn't zero. Not cool. A few more inches of length out to the connections and 15 degrees or so of downward bend would make this a non-issue.
Con
The uprights are spot welded together in one spot, and the two sides are so close that it's hard to clean between the two pipes just above and below that weld. Particulate matter gets stuck in there and it's so tight that I have to pull the two sides apart to get in there with my little brush. If the upright pipes were separated even just 1/16 of an inch I could do a decent job of cleaning without wrestling with it. I'm not sure why they joined the two uprights anyway. It's stainless steel - it doesn't need a weld to maintain structural integrity.
Overall
I know that's a lot of "con" and a brief "pro," but I do love this thing. Would have engineered it a little differently, but I am still glad I bought it.

Good investment Review by Jason

I finally decided to get one of these instead of stocking up on bags of ice to chill my wort. It worked fine in my sink with the adapter. My sink water unfortunately doesn't run very cold, so it still took quite awhile and used lots of water. That is less of a reflection of the product, than my plumbing.
