A Perfect Solution Review by JMSetzler

Product Rating:

I bought this burner over the Blichmann because it has three legs instead of four. Sounds odd? Well, my brewing patio is made of blocks and its not perfectly level. A 3-leg burner will sit solidly on an uneven surface where a 4-leg burner will not. The adjustable kettle stand will accommodate any size kettle, and I'm using this one with a Blichmann BoilerMaker G2 10-gallon model. Perfect fit. My initial test boiled 7 gallons of 74 degree water in 32 minutes.

Solid! (and works with natural gas) Review by Causey

Product Rating:

Loving the Edelmetall burner so far. It's a low pressure unit with a large burner diameter so I bought with the intention of converting it to natural gas (off-label conversion.) The process was very simple - from gas outlet i installed a main shutoff valve, attached a 48" 1/2" dia gas appliance hose, added a second shutoff/regulator valve, then connected the assembly to the burner itself using reducing couplers. The Blichmann gas conversion kit would likely work as well. To get maximum output, with the burner lit I adjust the regulator valve until I have mostly blue flame with yellow tips. Any higher and the air intakes start to whistle and the flame turns yellow. I haven't timed a full boil yet, but it seems to heat water faster than my old torch-style propane burner. After 3 batches there is some darkening of the copper components closest to the flame - I could probably scrub it off but I kind of like it. Brew days are now a little more enjoyable now that I am saving money on gas, don't have to worry about empty propane tanks, and get to admire my bad-a** Dwarven relic spewing holy flame.

I am new to All-Grain. I went with high quality in the way of burners. I did a batch with a friend a couple weeks before I decided to buy this, and his burner left tons of carbon deposits(he went cheap)... This burner leaves nothing! My wort is at a boil within 20 minutes after mashing, and to get to 170 for striking takes no time at all! I recommend this burner highly! Plus the thing is just plain sexy!

Great burner Review by DBCBrews

Product Rating:

Got this burner so I can brew 2 batches simultaneously. Nice quality, stays lit pretty well in [light] windy conditions. Seems to heat just as fast as my Blickmann and works just as well for a bit less money. I like the needle valve at the base of the burner for fine adjustments of the flame, something that the more expensive Blickmann doesn't have.

Product Rating:

It works well and is solidly constructed. So far I've made one beer and despite the winter coldness it's easily able to boil a lot of water.

Edelmetall awesome Review by Rich

First of all I just want to say how critical I am about my reviews, If I don't like something I have no problem in saying so.

Built like a tank actually seen a video where 4 grown men stood on it equaling 980lbs.

Like another reviewer I also received this near the end of January with the Smokey The Beer kit, buy the burner get the beer kit free.

I did not have the flame out (very windy day also )(gusts to 25 and temp was -4) as the other reviewer did (perhaps the air intake adjustment or a different position to the wind) Also as far as the air intake damper being thin (adequate in my opinion), it is made of stainless steel and once set it should not require any further adjustments.

I used mine on my deck with no scratching from the legs at all. My deck is made of cedar which is quite soft and I take pride in the fact that it looks like a piece of furniture attached to the back of my home

The adjustment of the burner works flawlessly, from the smallest of flames to full throttle. You can also adjust the burner to fit your brew pot perfectly with the adjustable stainless steel metal brackets provided.

Although the hose supplied is somewhat short, in my opinion works fine for my personal use. I don't like the idea of have a long hose for myself, kids, or one of my dogs tripping on it pulling my propane tank or burner over.

If you're looking for a serious good looking and high performance burner this one will do you proud and by the construction of it should last for years

Edelmetall Burner Review by John

(Posted on 1/31/14)

Product Rating:

I was able to do a side by side vs blichman burner the edelmetall is the nicer looking of the two burners and it has a better low flame control and seems to use less gas the ears that hold the pot in place are thicker and stronger, the thinner legs also make it more stable on uneven ground.
The things I did not like about the edelmetall it has a very short gas line and it has a rubber jacket instead of a metal braid the air intake adjustment is thin and weak the leg may also scrape you deck. I had them both burning at the same time the edelmetall did flame out and burn back into the burner. If you are planning to get the top tier the blickmann is the way to go if you are going to do a bench setup the edelmetall will do just fine. if you only need one burner flip a coin there both very good burns and will bring 15 gallons to a boil.

blichman vs edelmetall Review by John

Product Rating:

Pro has very good low flame control, very nice looking, brew kettle arms thick and strong

neg the gas line is short and rubber, air intake damper is thin and weak the legs may scratch wood decks if there is options of leg extentions I didn't see them.

Received this burn jan 29 with the smokey the beer kit I was already brewing a red irish ale decided to compare the blichman to this burner in the wind the edelmetall flamed out and burned toward the damper blichman didn't have that problem boil took the same time on six gallons the edelmetall was more stable with the 3 legs than the blickman on four with the wider foot. If you are planning to get the blickman 3 tier get the blickman burners if you are going to do a bench setup the edelmetall will do fine if it just one burner you want flip a coin they are both very good burner that have enough power for 15 gallon pots
