Solid Review by John

Product Rating:

Bought this as part of my move up to larger batch sizes along with the tall boy 10 gallon pot. Brought 6 gallons of water up to boil quickly. Did have some problems with flame outs on a bit of a windy day, but I put up a small wind break and no problems after that. Did the leak test prior to using and did have a leak in the connection between the propane tank hose and the needle valve piece, but was easily fixed by some gas line thread tape I picked up at the hardware store. Overall a good buy.

Great Burner/Minor flaws Review by Jeff

Product Rating:

Perfect upgrade from a turkey fryer. I have been more than happy with the fuel consumption. This being my only burner for all grain brewing it has done great. So far on one tank I have heated the mash water to strike, hot liquor to 170, boiled from 60-90 minutes depending for three 5 gal. batches and feel I have enough for a fourth even a fifth.

The only problem I ran into was the gas valve. It broke at the thinnest part while it was stored. I don't recall bumping anything into it, but picked up a replacement (Bayou Classic) hose/valve assembly from Lowes that seems far more durable.

All in all this is a great burner, and I will probably get another one in the near future.

What a fantastic burner! This has cut our brew time literally in half...bring 2.5 gallons to a boil in a matter of 15 minutes, and very easy to control the temp. We did have a leaky coupling that could not be fixed: Midwest Supplies has the BEST customer service I've experienced in a long time, and they took care of the issue, with no questions asked--there goal is to keep you brewing!Get one of these...it is 120% worth the investment, and these guys are the ones to buy from--they back their product and are so very knowledgeable and helpful.

Beastmode! Review by Wes

I order this bad boy a few months ago and fired it up recently .... it is awesome as I heated up a 16 gallon brew kettle quietly and quickly. Best in its class by far! The equipment is a little heavy but its sturdy and a fantastic essential to my brewing collection! I also bought it on sale so I saved $15 off the initial cost.

A Perfect Solution Review by JMSetzler

Product Rating:

I bought this burner over the Blichmann because it has three legs instead of four. Sounds odd? Well, my brewing patio is made of blocks and its not perfectly level. A 3-leg burner will sit solidly on an uneven surface where a 4-leg burner will not. The adjustable kettle stand will accommodate any size kettle, and I'm using this one with a Blichmann BoilerMaker G2 10-gallon model. Perfect fit. My initial test boiled 7 gallons of 74 degree water in 32 minutes.

Solid! (and works with natural gas) Review by Causey

Product Rating:

Loving the Edelmetall burner so far. It's a low pressure unit with a large burner diameter so I bought with the intention of converting it to natural gas (off-label conversion.) The process was very simple - from gas outlet i installed a main shutoff valve, attached a 48" 1/2" dia gas appliance hose, added a second shutoff/regulator valve, then connected the assembly to the burner itself using reducing couplers. The Blichmann gas conversion kit would likely work as well. To get maximum output, with the burner lit I adjust the regulator valve until I have mostly blue flame with yellow tips. Any higher and the air intakes start to whistle and the flame turns yellow. I haven't timed a full boil yet, but it seems to heat water faster than my old torch-style propane burner. After 3 batches there is some darkening of the copper components closest to the flame - I could probably scrub it off but I kind of like it. Brew days are now a little more enjoyable now that I am saving money on gas, don't have to worry about empty propane tanks, and get to admire my bad-a** Dwarven relic spewing holy flame.

I am new to All-Grain. I went with high quality in the way of burners. I did a batch with a friend a couple weeks before I decided to buy this, and his burner left tons of carbon deposits(he went cheap)... This burner leaves nothing! My wort is at a boil within 20 minutes after mashing, and to get to 170 for striking takes no time at all! I recommend this burner highly! Plus the thing is just plain sexy!

Great burner Review by DBCBrews

Product Rating:

Got this burner so I can brew 2 batches simultaneously. Nice quality, stays lit pretty well in [light] windy conditions. Seems to heat just as fast as my Blickmann and works just as well for a bit less money. I like the needle valve at the base of the burner for fine adjustments of the flame, something that the more expensive Blickmann doesn't have.

It works well and is solidly constructed. So far I've made one beer and despite the winter coldness it's easily able to boil a lot of water.
