FermaidK provides, DAP, free amino acid, yeast hulls, unsaturated fatty acids, and other helpful products. It helps encourage the yeast to maintain a strong cell wall in a high-alcohol environment. They also keep the yeast from providing off flavors due to stress, and help keep the yeast in suspension. This can be used in any fermentation, but it is highly recommended in wine and mead. Recommended dosage is 1 gram per gallon; rehydrate before use.

Kicks it in gear Review by Papa Shrubs

Product Rating:

Making an Aronia/Blueberry blend wine with Narbonne yeast. Past years, its always been a slow fermentation. This year it was no exception---very boggy--enough for me to be concerned. I took a chance and added Ferm-aid K, punched it, and within hours it started chugging right along. Ordered an 80 oz package today to prepare for the 2014 season where I'll crank out approx.120 to 150 bottles this year. Thanks Midwest!

Product Rating:

The extra nitrogen is greatly appreciated by my hard working yeast. The fermentation finishes faster with less need to age a long time to mellow out the harsh alcohols.

This plus DAP provides the missing nitrogen for your yeast when fermenting mead and cider. I use the method from Zymurgy, described by Ken Schramm.

Apple cider and honey don't have all the nutrients yeast need, so I use this, and get much faster ferments than I used to get.

Mead making - gives good results Review by William

Product Rating:

I was given advice by a professional Mead maker and have been using Fermaid as part of my staggered nutrient addition. I start with one third of dosage, then add another third 2 days later, and then the last third 2 days after that. This gives a much much faster fermentation and the process is done in 2 months instead of a year.
