  • Midwest Supplies is now accepting Chilean Juice Pre-Orders. This fresh, never concentrated, grape must will be delivered to our store directly from a Chilean vineyard. These juices are prefect for customization, and will begin to ferment once they are brought up to room temperature. This year we have a selection of 5 whites and 10 reds to choose from.

  • Learn the step-by step process to make great beer at home from our own Midwest Extract Kits. One of our knowledgeable brewers will walk you through the entire process from the boil to bottling, while explaining what each ingredient does and how it affects the beer. This class will be a big help to you if you're just getting started, trying to figure out how to use a gift, or have made a few batches.

  • Intro to Kegging

  • Tired of bottling your beer? Stop in for the Intro to Kegging class to learn the basics of kegging your beer at home. We will explain the "ins" and "outs" of kegging and force carbonating your beer, as well as sodas, sparkling water, hard ciders and even wine! You may want to hang out for the follow up class of "Building a Keezer (or keggerator)". This step in the brewing process will take your brewing to a whole new level!

  • Building a KEEZER

  • Our in-house kegging guru will walk you through the steps for building your own Kegerator/Keezer out of a chest freezer. This class will cover the fantastic possibilities and common pitfalls of DIY dispensing and show you just how easy draught beer at home can truly be.

  • Growing Hops with special guest Charlie Rohwer of the University of Minnesota
  • Saturday, April 11, 2015 @ 12:00 p.m.
  • Growing hops is easy! Learn how from Charlie Rohwer of the University of Minnesota.  He will walk you through all the steps from planting to harvesting.  Joe will also give you tips and recommend nutrients you can find in our gardening department to increase yield and promote growth.

  • Cheese Making Techniques with Larry Janke
  • Saturday, April 18, 2015 @ 12:00 p.m.
  • We will get you started on making cheese at home by showing you a variety of techniques including cutting the curd, separating the curds and whey, using a cheese press and waxing hard cheese, We will talk about various types of cheese, how to use the right milk for the project, explain what the rennet and cultures do to help in cheese making, talk about temperature control and aging. All of these components have an impact on the final cheese product. There will be a variety of cheese samples for you to try and a few wine pairings (from Midwest Supplies wines) to wash it all down. Join us for this very informative class on cheese making.

  • Brew in a Bag
  • Sunday, April 19, 2015 @ 12:00 p.m.
  • What is this? Brew in a bag is a simplified version of all grain brewing that requires less equipment and knowledge, while still obtaining a great result. This class is for those of you that don't want to jump into purchasing lots of extra equipment, but would like to enhance your brewing techniques.

    Brewing will start at 11 AM and end by 2 PM

  • Intro to Winemaking
  • Saturday, April 25, 2015 @ 11:00 a.m.
  • Make wine from varietal juice concentrates from all over the world.  You can learn to make excellent wines at home for a fraction of the cost of buying them.  We'll walk you through the wine making process so you can see how easy it really is.  You'll have the opportunity to taste several wines made from these concentrates.
