Product Details

A gorgeous yet unassuming crimson-colored brew, West Coast Radical Red Ale is strikingly familiar in its smooth, copper body and distinctively American, crisp clean character.

Its well-balanced multi-grain backbone offers approachability, yet this radically malt and hop forward transformation of the classic red ale is fully deserving of a double-take. Home-grown Cascade reminiscent of California grapefruit groves impart a citrus twist for a sessionable brew-next-door that's engagingly drinkable yet, without boasting, knows how to leave an impression.

If you enjoyed Elegant Bastard Red Ale, you'll love this kit!

West Coast Radical Red Ale Beer Recipe Kit

Tasted great, easy to make

This was the first 5 gallon batch I made. It’s easy drinking but still flavorful. Not too bitter and it brewed up great. I used US-05 and had no issues at all (except for my boil pot being too small, but that one’s on me).

This is by far the best batch of beer I have ever brewed. At first I was apprehensive about using all of the 4 packs of hops, but it turned out very nicely. It is fruity type of hopsy rather than grapefruit rind hopsey. In addition to being delicious and refreshing, it has a beautiful reddish amber color and wonderful aroma.

Very surprised at mouth feel and flavor.

This was my first attempt to brew a 1 gallon batch of beer. I love to brew however 5 gallons at a shot reduces the amount of different styles I can try over a given period of time. Directions were very straight forward and easy to follow. I did make a couple of changes however. I steeped the grans at 154 degrees for 20 minutes, raised the "tea" to 168 degrees and placed the grain bag in a strainer and used steeped brew to sparge the grain before proceeding to the boil. The final product was excellent, which brings me to my final conclusion. One gallon is not enough!!
