DetailsThe Amber 1/2 gallon glass jug is perfect for making a large yeast starter, experimenting with fruit flavors in your wine or beer, or for storing sanitizer solution. Takes a #6 stopper or a 38 mm screw cap depending on what your needs are.
Also, a great way to tote your homebrew! Just fill directly from your tap if you have a draft system. To reduce foaming attach a short piece of hose to the end of your faucet to direct beer to the bottom of the growler. Midwest does not recommend priming beer in these growlers. They are not made to withstand that kind of pressure.
Note: Stopper, or screw cap, is not included.

4.9 / 5.014 ReviewsGood bottle, NO capsI like the bottle just disappointed it didn't come with the caps. Now I'm trying to find 4 little caps that won't eat me alive on shipping charges. :(November 10, 2018Purchased
10 months agoNice productEasy to fill, lid holds well. I like the dark color for bringing beer on a sunny day. If you keg, this is a great way to bring your beer without bringing the whole keg. When not transporting beer, works well for holding left over sanitizer.December 12, 2013Growl on!These are great for bringing a healthy supply of tap brew to a gathering. The amber color is not only ideal, it's a must to keep oxidation at bay. Oddly enough, this size is outlawed in our home state of Florida so we are table to bring these to microbreweries for fills...that said, it becomes even more of a novelty to bring our own concoctions in half-gallon sizes! These are a great price and well worth it.November 2, 2013Great giftsI love giving my brew out in these or bringing a growler to a friends house to share my beer_x000D__x000D_easy to fill and allows for around 4 pintsOctober 14, 2013Gotta love a GrowlerThese 1/2 Gallon Jugs work excellent for bring beer to parties. A MUST HAVEOctober 6, 2013Standard growlerThis is the standard growler. w ks great for yeast starters and for pouring to go beer off the tap at home. I it's best to use a tube from the faucet to go to the bottom of these when filling to reduce foam. you can also lower the serving pressure a bit. I also like to use the 38mm poly seal caps to seal.May 31, 2013Great for starters, growlerThese are great for making large starters or for a cheap, short term use growler for your homebrew. These are also great for doing experiments, like trying out different dry-hopping additions.April 21, 2013carry my beer in thisI fill one of these before I go to an event. Does good for me....without paying big bucks for one of those growlers.March 16, 2013Bring your kegged beer with youI find these to be the quickest, easiest way to bring my Kegged Home brew to family gatherings, parties, or just to a friends house. Use over and over again, easy keep clean.March 5, 2013Good for small batches, too.In addition to their value as a growler, these half-gallon bottles work great for primary fermentation of small batches, particularly craft batches of fruit-based alcohol where you may not have enough fresh fruit to do the entire gallon. This makes it great for things like cider, raspberry wine or cordials. Just don't carbonated in here - the blurb warns the bottles could explode. Brown glass keeps out the UV rays and looks great on a shelf.March 5, 2013
