I got this kit for experimenting. I've split it into 5 single gallon portions and have made several different stouts, working to dial in a coffee and a chocolate stout. My only qualm to make this a 4star has been a very citrus-y flavor. This could well be user error or just impatience, however.
I've brewed the Simply Brown, It turned out great!! I ordered more!
I have purchased and brewed all of the Simply Beer recipe kits, and this is my favorite. It has a great taste, that can be compared to other, more expensive, Stout recipe kits, as well Stouts you can purchase in-store. If you are to purchase any of the Simply Beer recipe kits, I definitely recommend to try this one.
Converting the Simply Beer-Stout recipe kit into its ebony essence brings great joy to my life. With so many things out of control, it is psychologically reassuring that I can control the quality of the great beer I make in these daze of isolation. I savor each sip knowing that I made the beer. Not corporation. Just me. Thanks Midwest for helping make this happen in the convenience of my home. Cheers, Dr Tim
I added 2 oz of blood extract (1/2 bottle) at bottling time to a triple hopped IPA. Yummy
