Product Details

This classic Italian red wine is bone-dry and smoothly tannic, with a medium-high body, firm acidity and subtle cherry fruit offset by notes of herbs and mushrooms. It's velvety mouthfeel gets silkier and more elegant with ageing, and when fully mature it shows notes of vanilla and tobacco in the finish.

Italian Montepulciano Wine Kit

The kit arrived right on time, It is still perking away in the primary fermenter so I can’t comment on the final wine, but since it is 70% Sangiovese, I expect a full bodied red. WIll comment (much) later when drinkable.

Montepulciano

Perfect wine, most expensive kit I’ve made and was worth it! Medium dry red that is light and fruitful going down. I will likely keep most of these bottles for myself. 🍷

Started a new red: verdict to come

I was disappointed the Montepulciano kit did not have bentonite (to aid in clearing) as every other red kit I have made has it. It didn't have grape skins either which would have been a good addition. I age my reds one to two years before drinking so the verdict will have to wait awhile.

Worth the wait

After regulating the temperature of my carboy in my chilly cellar, waiting and racking and adding toasted oak chips I finally have bottled my “Monty”. The result is a fine example of this Italian favorite.

Monte!

Montepulciano is a favorite of ours. But our local wine kit shop (really his supplier) has stopped offering this and replaced it with "Tuscan Blend". Thanks to Midwest for continuing to supply us with our favorite flavor!
