Product Details

This pale, light-bodied golden ale is copyrighted by, brewed in, and named for the German city of Köln. Kolschbier is traditionally given a long, cold aging period like a lager, which makes for a very smooth and clean beer. A small dose of German Hallertau hops cuts the richness of the malt. "Spritzy" is a word often used to describe Kolsch - very refreshing, and a popular lawnmower beer for beer snobs!

If you enjoyed Cologne Kolsch, you'll love this kit!

Great service

Haven’t had a chance to brew this yet but kit arrived quickly and was complete.

One Cool Kolsch

So A friend and I chose this Kolsch for a little friendly competition. I must say even if I have to wait until July to sample it head to head I am not disappointed in the profile so far. The kit should include some Irish moss for extra clarity but I was very satisfied with the outcome.

Good first beer to brew

It was my first time brewing a beer and it turned out really great, I bought my own yeast from a local home brew store. I had never tasted a kolsch before but the taste it ended up with matches those on Google. It’s a really great drink for summer I’m glad I started brewing it in April.

Kolsch is great!

I have brewed this twice, and its been a winner both times. A welcome change from my normal ale sections.

Experiment Gone Right

I’ve done several Kolsch variants and they al turn out really good. This style really accepts flavors well. This go-round I added 4 oz cacao nibs and a few drops each of peppermint and spearmint essential oils (high purity grade).
Smells a little like a Cola. Mint forward but chocolate comes through on the finish. Next time I will definitely try more chocolate or less mint but it is not an unpleasant drink at all.
Have fun with Kolsch as your base. Add a pound of honey at flame out, dump some fruit juice into secondary, or maybe add some apple or pumpkin pie spice at 5 min.
