How to Make a Lager

Notes from Brad, Northern Brewer Head Brewer:

“What is otherwise a simple pilsner-style beer is taken to the next level with impressively clean and crisp Mexican lager yeast. The key to brewing this beer is all about the yeast - pitching a large amount of yeast and ensuring it is provided proper fermentation temperatures will make this a truly memorable beer. While yeast labs offer billions of cells in each package, making a yeast starter or pitching multiple packs of yeast is recommended for the best results. If you prefer to use dry yeast, that's cool too, as the same recommendations still apply.

This beer may take a while to make, but the end result is worth it. If you have the patience to let this beer lager for the full 4 weeks as outlined in the instructions, you will end up with a bright, clean, clear, crisp lager with minimal esters and a satisfying dry finish. Kick back, soak up the sun and bask in the glory of your delicious homemade Mexican-style lager.”

Mexican Larger

The kit arrived right on time. Brewing was easy as the instructions are very clear. Keeping it at the right temperature was the key. I have not bottled it yet, like to give it an extra week or so but the color looks lovely. I think it will taste good too.

So we were having a caver event and the guy in charge contacted me and said cavers like Mexican food so let’s make a Mexican lager and a porter so 15 gallons of each then Covid-19 caused our event to be canceled fortunately some caver’s headed to a different event which got canceled helped drink up some of the beer and both were excellent! Thank you Midwest supplies!

Everything went as it should. We've made this before but it's been a while. Now we just wait.

Good (Lager Challenge)

Good taste—long process (First Lager). Had to buy a bottling yeast, which over carbonated my batch and had to degas each bottle 9 times.
