Product Details

Creamy and perfectly sweet, this full-bodied port combines aromas of rich caramel and deep flavors of dark red fruit. The buttery caramel notes give this wine a roundness and texture on the palate and caramel, honey, toasted nuts and crème brûlée on the finish. Serve with chocolate cheesecake.

Dessert wines are the under-appreciated secret to a great cellar. There's nothing like finishing a great meal paired with excellent wines like pulling out a rich, satisfying bottle of dark and decadent lusciousness.

Sweet, but not overwhelming, these wines pair gorgeously with dessert, but can be served on their own. Versatile as well, they're excellent lightly chilled in summer and richly warming by the fire in winter. Usually dominated by their fruit when young, they get deeper, with darker, more intense flavors rising as they age.

Of course, these are limited: order yours now to make sure you get them!

Yield: 3 gallons.

Includes Labels.

This is a pre-order wine kit and expected to be released September 2021.

I got a leaky bag of grape juice!

I bought a specialty desert wine kit - a Toasted Caramel Port that I’ve made before and absolutely loved it. This time it was a little leaky. The outer box was very sturdy and it arrived with no dents or cuts. Upon opening it, I found the original manufacturer’s box completely wrapped in bubblewrap, also in good shape. But the inner box was stained with red juice in the bottom corner and when I tried to lift it out of the outside box by the handles the entire contents fell out the bottom and I was left holding an empty box. Thankfully, no liquid juice was spilled onto my kitchen floor. The juice bag was sticky and the instruction sheet was stained red but still legible. I cleaned everything up with damp rags but couldn’t find where the leak was. So I put the juice bag in a bucket for safe keeping and decided to attempt fermenting the wine anyway and be alert for potential contamination. Not a good start for an expensive wine kit.

toasted caramel port

Can't review because it is not bottled yet. I always get review questions before they are finished. The other dessert wines I have done e.g. raspberry mocha and black forest have been very good. I usually feel the need to add everclear or brandy before bottling to get alcohol content up where a port should be.
