Product Details

Explore the Canadian Okanagan in your own way with Cru International’s Okanagan Meritage.

This dry, medium-bodied wine opens on the nose with delicious aromas of red currant, cassis, vanilla, cigar box, and spices. On the palate, it unveils a round mouthfeel with polished tannins for a supported finish. Terroir: The Canadian Okanagan is a beautiful and expansive valley stretching over 250km, where mother nature has created the ideal climate for viticulture. The lake that spans the valley helps to temper the summer heat, alongside the Cascade and Coast Mountains which create a rain shadow effect, resulting in the perfect growing conditions for grapes.

The Okanagan is known for its wineries and fruit orchards and is surrounded by pine forests and provincial parks. Pair this wine with braised beef with pomme purée, bison burgers with blue cheese, garlic lamb chops with chickpea purée, or triple cream cheese.

Includes 125 g of Genuwine Dried Grape Skins*. Genuwine grape skins are crushed, whole grape skins, gently dried in a proprietary process that preserves their original color and fresh vineyard flavor. Fermentation on Genuwine dried grape skins enhances the color, flavor profile, and bouquet of wine.

*This recipe kit uses a RealGrape pack to boost flavor and body. Because the grape skins are not dried, they take up more space in your fermentor. This recipe requires the larger 7.9 gallon wine fermentor.

Note: This kit does not include bottle labels.

I made two 6 gallon batches of this wine according to the instructions. Let it aged for almost a year and bottled 1 batch. It's an okay wine. Thought it would be drier but it's not. Not one of my favorites. I added an oak spiral to my second carboy and will let that age for awhile and then re- sample.

I usually don’t get around to tasting my wines until they’ve been bottled for 6 months. Reds at least a year. Although they may taste good before that, waiting a year begins to develop the characteristics and subtlety’s associated with that particular wine. I’m about to bottle,
having carboy conditioned. Personally these reviews would be much better sent 18 months after receiving, so a proper review could be made. Cheers

Too soon to tell

I just moved this to the secondary so we have a year or so to know what this is going to be, I try to wait at least one year before I sample, except when I rack I do get a small taste. That won't be for another month or so.
