Product Details

Our hometown gives its name to our robust porter kit - an assertive black ale dominated by roast-coffee and chocolate character and hop bitterness. Toffee-like maltiness and citrusy hop flavor are in there as well, with a medium-full body and lingering roast malt/hop bitterness before a bittersweet finish. We like spiking barbecue sauce with a splash of this porter; it's also great with strong cheese like sharp cheddar or Stilton.

Porter Review

Added some peanut butter flavoring (from Apex) as well as some rum at bottling. 5.9% before rum addition. Came out great!

Just put the beer into primary. It’s my first beer using liquid yeast. The fermentation process started within 12 hours. A family member brewed the all grain version of this beer. I really enjoyed it and decided to brew it myself.

Solid Porter

I am enjoying the Porter. It is good but not great. I attribute that to my own stupidity and am looking forward to making another batch properly, some day. My problem? I left my activated Wyeast next to my range, with the oven on. Ooops. That yeast COOKED! I scrabbled around age-old packets of dry yeast to subsitute. I mean...don't waste that wort! So it is a Brit strain and is adequate. I think the Wyeast makes a finer flavor. Still, a few more weeks and I might think I was brilliant by cooking those billions and billions of yeast.
Porter is always acceptable imho. Try it, I'm sure you will like a savory, filling, swiggable porter without the abrupt dryness of some stouts. Cheers! It is GOOD!
